The burger came out dry and flavorless. The buffalo blasters are not worth it at all, 13$ for dry chicken nuggets basically. Would not recommend.
The portions are on the small side, but everything we ordered was decent. The burger doesn't come with fries, the vegetable soup was flavorful but too salty, and the tacos were delicious. Overall, a good experience.
Our group that went here is not from the area, and none of us had any cell service when we were trying to Google a place to eat. I decided to drive around and we'd just pick a restaurant, and we ended up at Schwack. It's affordable to eat here (If you don't get beverages, 10-20 per person). My friends ordered the turkey burger and the bacon burger, and I ordered the tacos with steak and a couple substitutions, and they got everything right. We also got the brisket sliders appetizer to share (it comes with three sliders and there were three of us) Friends ordered mixed drinks and I ordered a craft beer. Everything was incredible. We sat outside and the breeze was nice. All in all, 10/10 experience. If I find myself in Dana Point again, I'll make sure to stop back here!
good food reasonably priced ($12 for a breakfast burrito)
Starting with the good:
Service was great and friendly
The baked beans were solid (although I do like canned baked beans so that's not saying too much)
Ok, the bad:
The mahi mahi was criminally overcooked
The pineapple salsa tasted like onions and nothing else
The broccoli and carrots were overcooked and didn't have a speck of seasoning
The ahi tuna on the salad was overcooked
The oranges on the ahi tuna salad were cut in a way that made them hard to eat
The menu overall was very confusing
Definitely not a place I'll go back to and not a place I'd recommend to anyone
the burger i had was alil undercooked but the burger itself had flavor . good stop prices are fair but won't return sorry
Overall, our experience at Shwak Beach Grill was okay, but a few things could be improved. The ordering process was a bit unclear—while they had our names, the way food was brought out seemed inconsistent. My friend’s meal was delivered using their name, but when my chicken Caesar salad arrived, the waiter wandered around without calling for me.
The burger was enjoyable, though my friend wasn’t asked how they wanted it cooked—it came well-done and was fine. My Caesar salad was just okay. The portion size was decent, but the chicken pieces were very small, and it was made with iceberg lettuce (I believe) instead of romaine. The shaved parmesan and breadcrumbs were nice, but overall, it could have been better.
Not a bad spot, but there’s room for improvement in service and attention to detail. The tables outdoors where we sat needed to be cleaned thoroughly. The side covered area adjacent to the front entrance only had bar height tables (a few) toward the sides of the sectioned off area. We noticed people dining there with a dog. Its a nice newer building in a cute town but the area should be staged nicer add some tall planters and flowers or plants etc. It didnt look nice toward the right at all.
Great local food. Super service. We love bringing visitors here for a truly local experience. However there’s a strange smell inside that might be coming from their many gas stove burners. Sit outside if weather permits. They have two great patios. Bring a jacket bc the cool ocean air keeps temps much cooler here than other parts of DP. I would highly recommend their tacos. I love all of them but usually get the shrimp or fish. Their queso shrimp dip is off the hook! Their burgers are also amazing.
Had the tuna burger and the spuds. My friend had the burger and spuds. Both were great!
Food was prepped fast tast delicious and very nice service and informative of good things on the menu.. aahi salad highly recommended.
