This was our first visit, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The décor, tortilla station, and firewood setup feel authentic and thoughtfully designed. The atmosphere truly brings Mexican culture to the Bay Area.
The food is outstanding. The cocktails were great, the chips and salsa were fresh and delicious, and the ceviche trio was incredibly fresh with impressive presentation. The kitchen team clearly takes pride in their craft.
Unfortunately, our service experience did not reflect the same level of care. Our server, Benito, responded in a manner that felt dismissive rather than welcoming. Later, when the wrong dish was brought to our table, there was no acknowledgment or apology only insistence that the mistake was ours.
The interaction felt condescending and uncomfortable, which shifted the energy of what had been a wonderful meal.
Great food deserves service that makes guests feel respected and valued. I hope the service improves to match the quality of the cuisine.

I celebrated my birthday there last Friday and had an amazing experience. The place is so friendly and welcoming, is perfect for a celebration. The food was fresh and full of flavor, especially the guacamole.
Liz, our waiter, gave us great recommendations for food and drinks, and Elmer, the manager, checked on us several times to make sure everything was perfect. You can really tell they care about their guests and the quality of their dishes.
Highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back.

Cielito is a fantastic restaurant. I especially enjoy the weekend brunch, where they serve Tlayudas and Huevos Divorciados, some authentic Mexican dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. Valeria is also a wonderful server who makes you feel at home, always greeting you with a warm smile and great service. It's a great spot to visit and have a good time.

Prices very high for Mexican, but quality of food is mediocre to low. I had chicken mole. To my dismay, the mole was bland. Mole should not be bland unless it's been diluted, stored poorly or incompetently prepared. The dish came with corn tortillas, which were served warm and moist, but when taken out of the basket, smelled like a caterer's steam table, not corn tortilla. This is not the way to hold food for service in a restaurant dish that costs more than $25. My wife had fish tacos. She received two small street tacos for over $20. One of the two tacos hardly had any fish in it. Theirm Margarita, which seems to be lime Kool-Aid with a shot of un-named tequila is $15. No thank you.

We have been going here for years. When we went on the 1/7/26 we were very disappointed! They used to make wonderful large and strong margaritas, now it is smaller, weaker, and basically a lot of ice. Also, they have changed their menu, for example, they had a chili relleno appetizer for $14.50, they changed it to an entre by adding rice and beans and charging $21.95. The servers were always friendly and sociable, unfortunately, on this occasion it appeared that some of them have been put on a lease and told to minimize contact. We could come back at try all the other dishes to see if they fair better, but my wife said the watered down margaritas were enough to spoil the whole experience for her.

It’s hit or miss with the waitstaff. We had the misfortune of going in during a shift change. Our young man let our salad sit there for 15 minutes I think because he didn’t want to have to close out our table. It’s an open kitchen so you can see your food and about five different people walked by it at least 15 times in the 15 minutes it’s out there. Fortunately, for this restaurant, their food is incredible so even a little soggy salad was still pretty tasty. They better step up their waiter game or risk losing business, which would be a shame given how good the food is.

I wrote a positive review for this restaurant on Yelp six months ago, and after revisiting it last night, I was even more impressed. The lovely waitress Esmeralda, who served me three months ago, still remembered me ,so professional and thoughtful! Her service was as attentive and warm as ever, and she even kindly recommended some new dishes, which were absolutely delicious.
It's worth mentioning that the restaurant was packed on Sunday night; five of the tables were occupied by birthday parties during my meal, creating a wonderful atmosphere! This speaks volumes about its quality. A restaurant that's always full must have top-notch service and food. Highly recommended, this restaurant will definitely not disappoint!
