In my opinion, they're living on old reviews. This was my first and last time going here. I stopped in at 7p, 1 person at the sushi bar, no one else. Red flag #1. There were no prices on the menu. Red flag #2. I knew it was going to be high, just didn't expect it to be $37 high. I ordered 2 rolls to go: 1 spicy tuna and 1 rainbow roll. I asked the cashier if I could pay for them now and she said pay when I come back. Red flag #3 I came back and she handed me a print out from a old ink calculator with ink so light I had to ask her to read it. First she said $57. I said WHAT? She then said $37. I thought that sounds high but maybe the rolls are exceptional. I get home, as you can see from the pictures, the rolls are nothing special. -The spicy tuna... the tuna was gray with a hint of pink. I've never seen this before, usually it's bright red. I thought maybe it's a special white tuna? LOL nope more like a spoiled tuna, ate 2 pieces and trashed the rest. -The rainbow roll... it was fine. For $37 you'd expect it to have real crab not imitation crab. I looked on line and at yelp to confirm the prices and they're not listed anywhere. Highly recommend AVOIDING this place.

My family used to frequent Sushi Bar Hana years ago as this used to be one of the most authentic sushi restaurants in the Bay. But, as many great sushi establishments opened up, we began to see our number of Sushi Bar Hana visits dwindle, and after our visit today, I can definitely see why. The restaurant was incredibly understaffed with only two waitresses available. It's fine if restaurants are short-staffed (especially considering COVID's ramifications on the restaurant industry), but what's less excusable is general incompetence. Our waitress took an hour to tell us that what we ordered was unavailable, forgot to serve us our soups, and mixed up checks for a nearby table. She was very apologetic, but the repeated blunders worsened the overall dining experience. The food was ok but unremarkable. We liked that the edamame was complimentary but everything couldn't make up for the substandard service. I will note that the saba shioyaki is the best in the area. If this is your go-to dish and you don't mind waiting over an hour for it, then definitely head here.

SLOW service. Entered an empty restaurant and got our food over an hour later. BUT, the food was worth the wait. And the service was friendly. If we didn't have theater tickets, we would have been happy to spend our time.

Came here for the first time with my husband and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish! It was very fresh and sashimi portions were large and nigiri well made. The restaurant is really small and seems family owned and the chef and staff are all very nice and welcoming. Food was definitely authentic Japanese and the sushi/sashimi is worth the quality you are getting. I will definitely be back to try other items on their menu. Don't pass on this small hidden gem and grab some fresh sashimi/nigiri

First of all, it took WAY too long to prepare the food, it took a 1hr and 15mins just to prepare the first course of food. The food was small as well. The pork in the Tonkatsu was very stale and the breading was falling apart with every touch. The tempura sauce was sour. The sushi was not fresh, the sweet prawn was over marinated for at least a day. Don’t recommend Sushi Bar Hana for people that want to eat actual, good quality sushi.

A very small family owned restaurant -- when you walk in, you see the entire dining area. Freshness of the fish (sushi or sashimi): mediocore; Food quantity: junior size everything; Friendliness of the server: the typical Japanese pretentious kind that you see in Japan; Price: pretty high consider the quantity and freshness; Biggest problem: unclear bill, no item is listed, you get a print out of a bunch of numbers -- go figure what they are -- and a sum that is bigger than what you expected. Won't go back again. For sure.

This spot is small and cozy and we were pleasantly surprised. It had a sense of authenticity the moment you walk in. We came on a Wednesday evening, right when they opened. We were greeted by the sushi chef behind the sushi bar. Soon after we were shown our seats, we were offered complimentary edamame. Ordering was pretty straightforward and their menu wasn't too overwhelming. We decided on the karaage, hamachi nigiri, bogey roll and spicy gilroy roll. Everything was delicious and the fish so fresh!!! Only thing was that service felt unusually slow (especially since we were the first customers for the evening) but our server was super apologetic so we gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Great little sushi place. Perfect sized rolls and high quality food. Small space but family owned and very intimate. The server was so sweet.

Best sushi around. Yoshi and Midori are the absolute best. Fish is fresh, the spicy gilroy is a must. We love them!

The quality of the fish is outstanding. The specials are always excellent and can be a bit of an adventure…but worth it. Great spot for locals to catch-up.
