Their pies are amazing, I wish they kept their website more up to date. They are not doing the vintage fair Sundays anymore.

The Davis farmers market is already a must-visit, but the entire experience is enhanced by a trip to the Handheld truck. Their flavors change every week, and often are seasonal, but never fail to be unique and flavorful! They always have a couple savory and a couple sweet pie options, so my partner and I will get lunch and dessert in a one-stop trip! There is rarely a line, since the pie are premade and kept warm (or cold for some of the dessert pies), ready to be enjoyed! You just order, and they hand you the food, with little stamps on them to indicate the flavor. The workers are super friendly, and answer any questions you may have. Handheld operates out of quite possible the most adorable food-truck I've ever seen or ordered from, with a vintage, old-fashioned homemade delivery service vibes, and I was first drawn to the look of the truck way back before I even knew what the sold. But boy was I impressed once I read their menu and tried their food. They always have a couple vegetarian options, as well as a couple with meat, so there is something for everyone, and it's all worth it. Do yourself a favor, and stop by the next time you are at the farmers market in need of a snack or some lunch :)

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this adorable food truck! I stumbled upon this food truck while walking to Philz and I'm glad I did! I can't remember which pie I got but I enjoyed it a lot and was impressed by how much filling it had! I would purchase from here again!

Cool folks, cool truck, and delicious food! I had the Hand-Burger. Yum! And my kids had the Summer Pear Galette. Also yum!

Had the Fig and Brie Handheld Pie on a Saturday morning visit to the Davis Farmers Market. The stand was very welcoming and business displayed nicely but the pie bottom was a little burnt, dough itself was dry, and filling was mainly made of Fig with not much Brie.

We stumbled upon this lovely truck. We tried the Mario and the #4 (caramelized onion and cheese) and they were honestly amazing. The pies are a little pricey but you can tell that is because of the quality of their ingredients. They are very worth it! If they could provide some chimichurri sauce, that would be heaven!

NB: This a food truck with limited menu and hours (Friday/Saturday), so check the website before coming.I finally got here and am very glad I did. I had Jim's Barbacoa Beef pie, that came with a nice side of pickled onions as a counterpoint to the meaty filling. Quite delish. Selection is small, but covers main categories. I expect the offerings change frequently and I look forward to trying the whole variety!Portion was a reasonable lunch size for me; those with larger appetites may want to order two. When we are in the UK, we seek out the West Cornwall Pasty Company, but since they aren't stateside, Handheld Pies are a good alternative.

The Davis Lodge was the 169th Lodge instituted in California, on April 12, 1870 - a mere five years after the end of the Civil War and death of President Abraham Lincoln.
