The staff is very friendly and the service is quick. The food was very flavorful and the vegan options were delicious. The portions are large and able to be shared amongst 4 people.

Food and service of the lowest quality. None of the food was fresh and the ingredients were very low quality. The restaurant badly needs to be fixed up and thoroughly cleaned. Prices on the menu are not accurate. Server forgot about us. never even asked us if we needed anything or if the food was good. Amazing this restaurant isn't rated lower than it already is. Avoid this restaurant.

They charge higher prices than what's on the menu. For example, if the menu shows a drink costs 5 dollars, well get ready for it to cost 7.50 when you get the bill. If you bring this to their attention their staff are completely indifferent and just play dumb and say they can't do anything. Or they say the difference in price is from a 3% surcharge for credit cards, but 3% of $5 is only 15 cents, so it should be $5.15, not the $7.50 you see on the final bill. If they need to update the prices on the menu that's one thing but to lie and say it's from a credit card surcharge is so pathetic. Almost every item on the menu costs more than the listed price, so dishonest! It's just a dump of a restaurant, the owner clearly doesn't care. Plenty of other good Indian food places in this town. Sadly Preethi Indian is substandard in every measure. The food is bad, the restaurant is hot and stuffy, and the staff couldn't care less.

I do not recommend this restaurant. Low quality food and higher than average prices. Uncomfortable seats and little to no AC used in this restaurant.

The price and quality and quantity of the items does not match. Far better is Kathmandu

I’ve tried all the Indian restaurants in Davis and this is by far my favorite. Delicious, large menu, and very kind and generous owners. It’s a little pricey (tbh most Indian places are and for good reason - it takes time to make authentic curries and entrees!) but the 3 entrees, rice, and naan we get will provide us meals for a couple days. The lunch buffet is a must!

I’m so confused. We went here a few years ago and had a good experience. We went the other day since we had a large group and noticed they had plenty of open tables. Perhaps that should have been a sign. No one greeted us. We had to seek them out in the back to get menus or drink orders. They were not friendly and acted like they didn’t want us there. The buffet food clearly had been sitting out for a long time and not refreshed at all. I even checked their hours to see if perhaps they were getting ready to close but they were well within their open time.
I really wanted to support this place, but it was almost like they didn’t want customers. So strange.

It is very disheartening to see the recent negative reviews that are clearly left by people who did not even eat at the restaurant. We have been going to Preethi for the last several months and have always been treated with the utmost kindness and given the some of the best hospitality we have experienced. The food is always made fresh, even when the buffet is being refilled, it is fresh. The volume of people enjoying the lunch buffet, the large numbers of people at dinner service and the constant to go orders show this restaurant has a very loyal following. We have gotten to know the husband and wife who run this restaurant over the last several months just simply by talking with them and they are some of the nicest people we have ever met. They care deeply about the food they make and how they make it. They make their own yogurt and the spices that they use are from their own personal spices they have curated from their family cooking history. The spices, to my taste, are amazing. If you are looking for a high end, fine dining experience with cloth napkins and the trappings this is not the place for you. If you are looking for some really good food that an Indian grandma would make, then I think this place is for you. THESE PEOPLE CARE A GREAT DEAL ABOUT THEIR FOOD AND THEIR CUSTOMERS. If you simply talk with them and treat them with a little kindness it is returned to you a hundred times over. If you are trying to get alcohol without an ID this is not the place either - don't trash a business because they are following the rules they are required by law to follow.

Great place for India cuisine, especially the masala dosa and sambar, feels like home made.
