I've never eaten here even though this is my alma mater. Segundo DC is the only one open on the weekend. We came for an event and decided to have a late lunch here. For $13 a person (adults and any kid over 3), it's not bad. There are quite a few choices. We went to the Mongolian BBQ first and it was very tasty although I think they use vegetable or canola oil. You add your own sauces at the end which is a good idea vs they add it for you. There's only chicken as the meat option, but plenty of veggies to choose from. The salad bar is quite good with a good variety of veggies plus we enjoyed the apple walnut salad and the curry tortellini salad, both very tasty. I was impressed that there were good quality deli meats too (pastrami and thin sliced as well as cubed pork loin roast). There's also a few kinds of cheeses to make sandwiches with and egg salad and tuna salad too. The soup bar wasn't impressive, only had a mustard green and pork soup and Thai curry soup.Hot food wise there's also roasted bbq chicken and rice. Overall, good value and delicious for a dorm dining hall. The environment is good also and doesn't feel too canteen or "mess hall" even though it is obviously not a restaurant.

If you don't have meal passes cause you aren't a freshman living in the dorms, make sure you buy them instead of paying at the front. It'll save you a couple bucks. The beef stew was great. Was very tender and the sauce paired well.

I liked it better than Tercero, Cuarto and Latitude. It has more protein options!

A GREAT BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! With healthy and plentiful dining options I was shocked that more locals don't come in. I leave full every time, feeling good about the quality of food I had. 10/10

Pretty good, but honestly they need to make chilifries a thing. The chili they use on the hotdogs is good but chilifries are much better than chilidogs.

For some reason the Segundo Dining Commons came across my radar as being vegan friendly and when I went to their website I was able to confirm that they are indeed extremely vegan friendly. This is pretty much a freshman dining hall that is also open to the rest of the UC Davis community and also the public. Since it is open to the public, I figured I would check it out. The two times I have been so far I have parked in Lot 25 which is a large Visitor's Parking lot on the UC Davis campus that is only a short walk to the Segundo Dining Commons. Note: You have to walk around the backside of the building to get to the entrance. Lunch is only $12.50 per person and is all you can eat. I was able to pay at the front with Apple Pay and proceeded to go inside. While it is 99% freshman in there getting lunch, you won't feel out of place and they could care less that you are there. It's actually a very chill and comfortable for environment if you are a member of the public and not a freshman. The first time I got lunch there I got a Vegan Black Bean Burger, Shoestring Fries, and a Vegan Lemon Drop Cookie. The second time I got the Vegan Falafel Burger, Curly Fries and a Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie. It was the type of meal that would cost you at minimum $15+ plus tip (more or less $18) and likely even more than that. It was refreshing to get a deal on some vegan food for once! I most definitely will be coming back and bringing others with me too.

The menu is often inaccurate and the food isn't great. There was a price hike and lunch is now 13.50, which is very overpriced considering the quality.

The food is well worth the price, but it is a bit bland. I enjoy the mongolian wok and the cowboy burger, but avoid the vegetarian options if possible.

Totally dissatisfied. Bean burger bun was dry. Sauce options were limited. Stir fry veggies were flavorful but under cooked. Bummer the Mongolian barbecue was not open. The salad bar only had a couple of options and very few veggies. My friends raved about this place three years ago. Good aspect, it nice hearing people talking and laughing in the background.
