Food is very.... Homemade? It's taste similar to when my mother makes a stirfry from left overs. The vegetables is still on the raw side, the meat is relatively well seasoned. It's not exactly americanized Chinese take out but it's also not exactly authentic.

This is THE BEST restaurant in Davis. The food is consistently always delicious and is clearly made with great care and skill. The food from Shanghai Town never disappoints and gives me that feeling you get when you’re eating something you grew up with, something from home. It satisfies your belly and your heart. To those whom complain about periodic slow service, I say, “the greatest things come to those who wait”. Get over it. This is the hardest working family in the business, and they turn out fantastic food almost every day of the year. I’ve never once regretted a meal from Shanghai Town, and I’ve been eating there for over ten years and I’ve had them provide food for several of my birthday parties. I can’t imagine not having this incredible place in my life.

Most sorry excuse for a "restaurant" I've ever seen. Don't accept any cards. The store is quarantined off so that customers all have to stand in a 4 by 4 square and have zero option to dine in or even approach the counter, while the restaurant workers have all the space. Food is cafeteria quality and I threw away half cause it was so anemic. All for the price of the same meal you would get at a very good Chinese restaurant

Probably the worst orange chicken I've ever had. The pieces are small and thin, and almost chewy like it's chicken jerky. The flavor is too sweet, and there is a lot of sauce. Overall just really bad 0/10

It's rare to find a place that specializes in Shanghainese cuisine anywhere and we've been supporting this place for years and years. My mother grew up in Shanghai, so for her to actually get some of her old traditional dishes is really great! I get how some people may just order the regular mainstream Chinese dishes, but really try the traditional Shanghainese dishes, they are amazing.

Shanghai Town Chinese Cuisine's food is ok, but the quality and quantity doesn't line up with their current prices. The Mu Shu Pork Wraps seemed like they were thin burrito tortillas, and didn't compliment the Mu Shu Pork. Broccoli was wonderfully prepared, but other veggies and meats tended to be lacking.

The price is reasonable and not expensive. The taste is just ok.

Ain't finna hold the orange chicken was weird. It was only bunch of small slice of chicken only not a whole chicken very bad place.

I think the food its pretty good but they have to compete with others. Their competitors are offering much cheaper prices with good quality. I think if they reduce their prices a little bit and work on the Decor and design of their restaurant they can be very successful

A bit salty and a little slow too, however it's big portion sizes.

Their food is great! But they recently started filling their containers half full. An order of General chicken usually fed four but today it barely fed two. I'll go elsewhere from now on.

Food are good but there's an iron wire in the meatball dish Btw the eggplant is too sweet, like I'm having some kind of dessert.

When in Davis this is my go to spot. Their eggplant vermicelli and shredded pork and Lion head soup is sooooo good! I'll order this year round but it's even more magical on a rainy day or during the fall/winter season. Every dish I've ordered is delicious and you can't go wrong with anything you order. Word of advice, do not go if you are on a time constraint as it can take anywhere from 30-40min for your food, but totally worth the wait.

I and my husband like their Singapore noodles and Mushu pork. It takes awhile for them to cook and prepare dishes but it's worth waiting when you do your self-pick up. Waiting time varies between 20 - 50 mins, as they perhaps have only one main chef. This restaurant deserves better than 3.5 stars as Yelp shows currently, at least 4 to 4.5 stars compared to other decent Chinese restaurants in Davis. Athentic tastes, not sugary fusionized American Chinese food. Still pretty mildly seasoned food except a couple of spicy food. Recommended.
