Thai Canteen is exactly what you’ll probably expect from a Thai place. Your typical vegan options and some vegetarian options made with fish sauce. Flavor is fantastic and while the staff is nice - I’ve had an inconsistent experience with knowledge on what’s vegan or not. No big deal, they just ask the cooks, but I would surely double-check when ordering if you’re not sure about something.

The best Thai restaurant in Davis hands-down. Thai Canteen is a simple counter-service restaurant serving authentic Thai food with large portions and at an affordable price. Service is hit or miss depending on who’s working. However, no one has been particularly mean spirited. They offer quite a few vegan and vegetarian options such as their yellow curry, pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, stir fried eggplant, drunken noodles, and Thai tea (can be made with coconut milk instead...

At Thai Carteen, as Africans trying out new dishes, we thoroughly enjoyed the rice but didn't have the same appreciation for the noodles. Nonetheless, we had a great overall experience, complemented by the fantastic staff. Will recommend checking out if you are in Davis.

Parking: Might need to do parallel parking on the road next to the Carteen.
