My husband and I love coming here! It's amazing and I'm shocked at the bad reviews. I get the rack of lamb, and my husband does the scallops. They're truly chef's kiss!!! Our server was also amazing and we were seated in such a sweet little spot. It felt so cozy!!

This was our first time eating here under the new ownership. The meal and atmosphere were all good with two notable exceptions. 1. My son's $60.00 steak was riddled with fat. 2. As we had 6 people in our party, they automatically tacked on a 20% tip. The service we received for our 20% was marginal at best. Several times we wondered where our waiter was. I contacted the owner shortly afterward to share my thoughts. Zero response from the owner. I will be hard pressed to darken their door in the future.

The Mustard Seed has been one of our choices for entertaining guests at our department at UCD. Generally speaking, the experience has been positive and, although slightly priced, the value for money is good. This week, however, I got food poisoned with the scallops entrée. Worse than that, when I called the restaurant to report, an employee (or the manager, I don't know), defiantly said that it was not possible; that I surely got sick from eating elsewhere. When I said that I did not appreciate them casting doubt on my report, she responded with this pearl: "what do you want me to do?" Well, I'd like you to take responsibility and report this incident to your patrons. Because I doubt you will, I'm doing it for you.

Overpriced, I'm afraid. $46 for an unexciting dish of baked cod and potatoes. I'm OK with $50/plate entrees, but this is not it for me.

A nice place to eat on a rainy Davis night. The spicy lentil soup was excellent and well prepared. The scallops were very good. My partner reports that the fish was not to her liking. The other dishes came out well, the grilled pork loin. Overall terrific ambience. A nice place to catch up with friends and family. We would come here again.

The Mustard Seed continues to be a reliable, well-run go-to restaurant. The food is good, the ambiance quiet and refined, and the service excellent. The only slightly negative comment I can make is that red meat dominated the short entree menu. It would be nice to have a greater choice. We had an excellent Apple Current Tart desert. Our highest recommendation for the Mustard Seed.

Such a cute date night spot! We enjoyed the smoked salmon carpaccio and rosemary bread to start. For our entrees the Braised beef ragu was perfection. My husband's pork chop was a tad overcooked but over all a decent dish. For dessert we had the chocolate cake. Our waiter was great as well! Definitely coming back.

Everything was incredible and we had a wonderful time! Chair design seemed out of place as the raw wood feel did not match any other wooden element in the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was a delight. Looking forward to coming back!

One of the two best fine dining establishments in Davis. Have the scallops!

Nice restaurant, beautiful setting for a meal. We hosted a couple of visitors for a business lunch. The service was good, our water was refilled often. We were offered wine, but no other non-alcoholic beverages were offered. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. The butternut squash soup was good, but the chicken sandwich I ordered was nothing special. The chicken was quite dry and the bread too hard (toasted too much?) The americano I had after the meal was really good. One of our guests requested tea and they don't have it on the menu. Overall, a solid 3 stars, but I thought it was pricey for the quality of the food.

The valentine experience wasn't worth it. Maybe visiting the restaurant on a normal day would change my review but the wait/service wasn't the greatest. We waited about 30-35mins to get our main course after getting our appetizers. Plus it took forever for them to just service us water. The food once received was good, no complaint there. They just didn't seem well prepared for the night.

Fantastic Valentines experience as always. Simple reservation system, table ready on time, staff genuinely friendly, food is ridiculous, gratuity is included. It's spendy for me, but it's a special occasion and completely worth it.

The Mustard Seed is wonderful, with lots of well done classics and some creative dishes that can appeal to many different tastes. You can expect everything to be delicious and well worth the money, but not necessarily surprising. The consistently good flavors, service, and intimate vibe make the Mustard Seed a fantastic spot to celebrate special events in Davis. Lastly, the chocolate bread pudding is incredible and always on the menu. You would be making a mistake if you didn't finish your meal with the bread pudding.
