I just ordered takeout from this place tonight and it was AMAZING. They made sure everything was vegan for me I didn’t have to worry one bit!:) I got the vegetable chow mein, vegetable fried rice and kung pao tofu. All were excellent!!!

I used to visit this place once a month last year, and the food was consistently good. However, my recent dinner experience was a disaster. The fried rice was undercooked, so I brought it to the manager's attention. She took it back and returned with what was supposed to be "just made" fried rice, but it was essentially the same—still undercooked and now excessively greasy. It felt like they simply reheated the original dish with a lot of oil. The other dishes we ordered were also extremely greasy. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I won't be returning. I recommend finding another Chinese restaurant in Davis.

Maybe I am biased coming in with expectations from some really good chinese joints in the tri-valley region but went in looking at the reviews. Overall, service was good but found the food to be just ok during our visit to Davis around lunch time. Food portions were decent but flavor was mediocre at best. The disappointing part was me and my daughter suffered a severe upset stomach that evening and it took us a few days to recover.
Also the tables are too small for the serving plates which are way oversized to fit on the those 4 seaters if you end up ordering 3-5 entrees at a time.

My go to for freshly prepared Chinese food, dine-in and takeout. The prices remain reasonable, service is great and the food is prepared rather quickly compared to other restaurants.

Always a delicious experience.
We're relatively new to Davis and have had many people recommended this restaurant. I'm rather particular about Chinese food (I have some Chinese in me and my grandfather was Chinese/Hawaiian and was an amazing cook). Wok of Flame won me and my boyfriend over for many reasons. We love the fact that they have traditional book style menus, the ambiance is great, the service is excellent and the food is so fresh and flavorful! We shared a plate of potsickers which were a nice size with crispy edges and the dipping sauce was divine. He had a bowl of Hot and Sour soup and I had a bowl of Egg Drop soup. They were both nice and hot and delicious. The only thing that was missing was white pepper, they don't offer it, and I believe that's the first Chinese restaurant I've been to that doesn't offer white pepper which is a staple for adding to soup. The Dynamite Beef was nice and crispy in a great sauce with crunchy veggies...a real delight. The vegetable chow mein was great as well. We both had iced teas (Oolong perhaps) and it was very refreshing. We will definitely be back, since Wok of Flame has now moved into #1 position of Chinese restaurants here in Davis... we'll bring our own white pepper...lol.
Wheelchair accessibility: I had plenty of room for my walker.

Wok of Flame has the BEST salt and pepper chicken wings in Davis. The seasoning is perfection and the crispy wings are seriously addicting. The chow mein is great (they have a good lunch special) as are so many other dishes. It’s a great place for family dinner/lunch, typically pretty quick to seat you and always great service.

Food was great. I ordered egg rolls. When the server asked me if I’d like 1 or 2, I said 1. Yet he didn’t tell me it’s the same price whether or not I get 1 or 2. I ordered a cup of wonton soup. He asked me if I’d like the large or just the one cup. I asked what’s the difference. He said with the cup I only get the broth and 3 dumplings. With the large I get vegetables and pork also. Really? Not the same just smaller portion? Way to entice people to come to your restaurant. Seriously, dumb decisions. Again, food was great, yet because of the above reasons, I won’t be back.
Excellent food and service. Without a doubt the best chinese food ive had in this area. Absolutely delicious. We ordered one of the 4 entrée family meals (there is five of us), and it was more than enough. Large portions; plenty of leftovers. 5/5 stars.

I love the fact that they have lunch specials and good portions! Clean, nice staff, not over priced for the quality. Food not heavily fried like other Chinese food.
