Some of the best Japanese curry you can find
This used to be a great spot but the quality has really gone down in the last year. They either changed their process or lost the head chef. Food is absolutely mid but you pay a premium for it. Also none of the specials have a price on them until you're paying. Kind of scummy tactic.

This is my favorite spot for getting ramen in downtown Davis! The service is fast, the staff are friendly, and the food is incredible. I'll always keep coming back!

Yuchan Shokudo has some of the best ramen I’ve had! The ordering and seating process did not take long and it was nice to order at the counter without worrying about the check at the end. The atmosphere inside feels like a perfect cozy place to enjoy your meal and the service was prompt and friendly. After ordering, it did not take long for our food to arrive. The takoyaki had the perfect texture and the octopus inside was delicious. I ordered the shoyu ramen and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The chashu was rich, the broth had layers of flavor, and the noodles were perfectly springy. The tonkotsu ramen was equally delicious, especially with the notes of black garlic and spicy kara-miso to cut through the creamy broth. I am looking forward to our next visit and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality ramen and Japanese food in Davis!

It just wasn’t as good as the last time we came here.
Great food, decently fast service once we got in. The payment at the register before being seated was a bit unusual for a first time as it is hard to judge how much to pay as TIP until we are done with a meal and have a chance to consider the service. If there is a line, processing at the register can take a long time. The printed menu was not aligned with all the available items which is a shame if you want to try something that looks great after you have placed an order to dine in.

Honestly, kind of disappointing… the food was rather monotone and uninteresting, especially for the price. We got the katsu curry and fusion carbonara. Maybe the ramen is better?
I’m fine with ordering at the counter but suggesting a minimum 18% tip when you haven’t even tasted the food or experienced any service seems a bit much to ask… our waters weren’t even ever refilled…
One of my favorite places to come for a lovely dinner. Last friday at the end of the month, they do yakitori and it is delicious.

Not family friendly. In fact, the guy told us that they didn’t have high chairs and that they cater more to adults. Then proceeded to tell us to go to the chain restaurant down the street.

My wife and I had an outstanding dining experience at Yuchan Shokudo, and we can’t say enough great things about both the food and the service. From the moment we walked in, Alan made us feel welcome and well taken care of. He was not only attentive and friendly, but impressively knowledgeable about the entire menu, especially the selection of Japanese sake and liquor. He took the time to guide us through our sake choices, answered all our questions with genuine enthusiasm, and even treated us to complimentary tastings, which added a thoughtful and personal touch to our evening.
As for the food, every dish we tried was excellent. The pork tonkotsu ramen was rich and flavorful, the chicken karaage perfectly crispy, and the edamame was a simple but satisfying starter. The gyoza salad stood out with its fresh, well-balanced flavors, and paired beautifully with the sake. We also enjoyed a liquor flight and two bottles of sake, which Alan helped us select based on our preferences. Altogether, the atmosphere, service, and cuisine combined into one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while. We highly recommend this restaurant and will absolutely be returning!

Be sure to hit the monthly kushiyaki nights, when they go back to their roots and do skewers. The A5 wagyu and buta bara are amazing.

Spicy 🌶️ Tan-Tan Ra-men is 🔥 lit. Perfect mouth numbing experience without being insanely hot. Reminiscent of Szechuan mala spice. Great umami and pork flavors come through. Highly recommend. Staff is always hustling. 👍
