Couldn’t be any slower of service. Messed up my drink by using regular milk instead of oat milk which happens, but literally took 30 min to fix. Quite possibly the slowest me
Great coffee, good views, no outlets to charge, not ideal for work
Coffee is decent but nothing special. They make their own syrups, which is nice, but that’s about the only unique thing here.
Now for the cons - and there are quite a few. The location is right off Carmel Valley Road, which basically feels like a one-lane highway packed with cars and cyclists. The “patio” is tiny, maybe 15 seats at most, and half the time people park there forever so there’s nowhere to sit. Sure, the view of Los Peñasquitos Lagoon is nice, but good luck actually enjoying it.
Wait times are all over the place - sometimes it’s a quick 5–10 minutes, other times you’re waiting half an hour for a simple drink. Overall, this place is seriously overrated and overhyped.

Grabbed an iced latter with oat milk and it was so refreshing gosh!
The tables are ill sized(too high or too low)if you want to sit and work, but best option is to be on the deck with a view and under the sun shade.
Location is great with the beach walking distance away

The avo bagel sandwich was delicious! I also got a vanilla bean latte that was just not really flavorful. I think I should have gotten a regular drip or pour over coffee. My friend’s hot chocolate was also a bit bland.

Mal was the best barista I’ve ever met (no lie). They knew literally everything I could ever want to know about espresso (and I know how to call my shots). The way Mal multi-tasked a poetic lecture to me in between actively serving it, swiping down customer orders and answering my philosophical coffee questions—with undivided attention on both the customers *and* their work on the machine needs to be studied. They knew their coffee process methods better than I’ve heard before, and they talked me through the entire menu to sell me on something to sip on for later. They thought creatively and constructively about menu improvements, factoring in the shop’s entire supply chain. Mal deserves a medal for San Diego’s most-talented barista. Bird Rock is blessed to have them. Thanks for the best coffee chat I could’ve ever asked for on a random Thursday morning. Keep Slaying it.

Adam and Lindsey make this place a delight to visit after our Torrey Pines hikes. The coffee is outstanding, the muffins perfection, but the atmosphere of friendliness and cordiality is unmatched. Bravo!

Great place to stop by for coffee before heading to the beach for a walk, or to come in for food and coffee after hiking Torrey Pine cliffs.

Solid spot with well-crafted eats and brews. Their Slayer espresso machine is no joke. For a place with phenomenal views and top-notch equipment, they’ve got reasonable prices and strong customer-facing employees. Bravo.

I tried the Latte Nitro Cold Brew at Bird Rock Coffee and was disappointed. It tasted watered down and lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. I also ordered a Dark Hot Chocolate to go for my wife, but didn’t realize until I got home that they had given me a chocolate mocha instead. Unfortunately, she can’t have caffeine, so that was a letdown as well. Overall, I found the experience overrated.

Barista got the drinks mixed. Good thing we caught it right away, as the waiting time for coffee was huge.
Wow! Just wow! This is the best coffee I have ever had. I came here with a friend a few months ago while we were waiting to meet up with another friend who lives in the neighborhood. The coffee was so amazing that I'm actually glad I have to drive my son to classes in Del Mar (from Fallbrook!) so I have an excuse to come here more often. The dark chocolate mocha is the ONLY mocha I have ever enjoyed. I also really like the honey vanilla latte. I also tried the dirty orchard, which was also good, but I think I'll stick to my usual hot coffees.

HUH? WOAH AN OVERPRICED COFFEE SHOP WORTH THE COST?????? crazy in today’s economy. as expected from a cute cafe on the beach, there was a bit of a wait, but we were greeted and told it would be a second, and then got an apology for the wait. shoutout to the guy doing the beautiful latte art because i felt appreciated. yes, their food menu isn’t huge, but it was nice to go into a modernised cafe and NOT have to read a billion options on a tiny screen. phenomenal food, i took one bite and inhaled the rest of it. drinks wise, i very much enjoyed that they didn’t just have trendy drinks, they also kept true to their brand. i got a iced latte and added one packet of sugar and DAMN that was the best coffee i’ve had in a while. we all got our food and drinks pretty quickly as well. i WILL be returning. also idk what crack they put in their aioli, but holy aioli.

Best coffee in the area. Expensive, but on par with other coffee shops in the area.
