I got the beet salad and my boyfriend got the fussiloni, both were delicious! Our server Antonio was very helpful and the service was extremely fast. The view was great and very relaxing.
This is one of our very favorite restaurants--the people, the food, and the assurance of always enjoying our dining experience in every way. Il Fornaio is one of our "go to" restaurants, because their menu is ever-changing with fabulous specials, and the quality of the food never disappoints. The variety of seating is also a plus--you can dine outdoors, indoors, or watch the sunset on their covered patio. And don't miss dessert! Their gelato is fabulous as well as all the Italian specialties. Enjoy!
Food was great but the service stank, worst of any place I have eaten in San Diego County in the last 30 years. I am hard of hearing so requested the quietest area seating as possible. Got seated at the entrance to the aisle where all of the traffic goes into the rest of the seating and the booth was directly between the kitchen and the bar-lounge. Once seated, not ordering a cocktail, we were mostly ignored. Finally, dessert to a very long time to arrive. However, the waitress was very prompt with the check. Went here because previous visits were outstanding in everything. Will never go back again.
Always wonderful. We just love to sit at the bar, and have a cosmo and a marguerita pizza and bread and butter and a Caesar salad and give everybody finger puppets. Since 1989, when you first opened, we have come here. Thank you, Ivan. I remember you telling me that you wanted a place where people could come and see the ocean and they didn't have to buy anything. A free viewing area. What a concept. Oh by the way, I also lost a swan pin. It's a magnet. Thank you if you find it.
All of our food was very boring and overpriced! Why pay for bread at an Italian restaurant
Fabulous evening celebrating my BDay after opening Day at Del Mar Races.. Our server was great attention to every detail .. Thkz for a great evening ❣️❣️
Wonderful service- efficient and friendly. Beautiful location for a weekend lunch. Views not to be beat. Food was very good- had salmon and pasta bolognese.
Mia our server and Walter the manager were both very nice to talk to. The food was great. The bottle of Flowers Pinot Noir complimented our meal perfectly. We will be back again soon. Thank you
Just a basic chain Italian restaurant. Nothing special. Food was mediocre. Nice views if you are on patio.
Delicious dinner with great service. Loved the gnocchi appetizer and the duck entree. My wife really enjoyed the black cod entree. The meal was enhanced by great service from Samantha.

I ordered the wide ribbon pasta with Bolognese sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked but found the Bolognese sauce to lack flavor. Portions are small for the price. Service was excellent and Restaurant was well staffed.
I have long loved Il Fornaio restaurants. This location seems to have slipped a bit in the Quality. I have previously come to expect it wasn't bad, but it just was not what I previously remembered.
Our first time! After a big lunch, we went with a lighter dinner of soup and pizza which proved to be just right. Service was very good, and food was excellent with the thin-crust pizzas making the day. The beautiful decor just added to the overall experience.
Our appetizers (Crispy Calamari and Fradiavola pizza) were quite good. The linguine alla vodka main course was tasty but the lasagna was very bland and mushy. The Tiramisu dessert was very underwhelming and had had no coffee flavor! The Napoleon was a little better but not great. Service was excellent.
The restaurant was not busy . Our server couldn't be bothered to bring the drinks in a timely manner and got the drink order wrong on top of that. Unprofessional and lazy. Saving grace was the delicious food.
