Excellent food, beautifully presented by professional wait staff. Dine early for a great view of the ocean. The yellow fin tuna appetizer was a perfect balance of tastes. The local sea bass was a bit overdone but paired with great vegetables. The short rib was tender and juicy. The crown of the meal was the Hula Pie for dessert. Big enough to split 4 ways.
Very nice restaurant on the beach front, excellent friendly service and good food. Choices are great and specials are interesting
Always a good time at Jake's Beautiful restaurant in a fantastic location, with good food, great service and awesome views!
We always enjoy lunch at Jake's. Beautiful day right on the beach. It was my sister's retirement party, and the restaurant gave her a card and made her feel special. I feel bad that I didn't get our server's name, but she was fantastic. Very attentive, despite having to care for a holiday crowd. Couldn't have had better service. The food was good. My sister and wife had the special, which was mahi mahi with a citrus sauce. They were both a bit disappointed by the overwhelming amount of citrus, but were not complaining much. Always a treat to go to Jake's. We were fortunate to get there early, as the parking lot was jam-packed when we left. Book at their opening at 1130 to miss the lunch crush.
We have been to Jake's for dozens of years and we find it to be one of our favorite places in San Diego. It's always spectacular view, Wonderful food, great service.
I love coming here especially for special occasions. The food and service are always great.
Extravaganza of the most spectacular views of Californian coastal sunsets is you back drop . All above was absolutely delicious , served with kindness and measured every detail . Rich flavours and chilled wine were met with super easy on the eye interior ambience . LOVED IT
The food and service exceeded our expectations. From the delicious Pear & Candied Walnut Salad, thru appetizers and entrees. Amazing from start to finish. The Grilled shrimp with butternut squash ravioli and Spiced Crusted Ahi were so tasty.
We celebrated our son's birthday and everything went great. Hostess was friendly and server took good care of us. Food and drinks were all very good. I was happy the request for a table by the window was granted. Beautiful views of the beach!
I cannot believe an expensive restaurant like Jake's charges $4 for bread. Give me a break. You overcharge for drinks and menu items then you have to charge for bread!

Excellent dining experience. I've been to Jake's many times, will return every time we are in San Diego area!
The table was perfect. We had a seafood chowder;delicious! We each had the sirloin with shrimp. We discovered about half way in that both steaks were grossly undercooked- we ordered medium rare and the steak was cold and dark red. The server had five other tables and we were unable to get his attention. In hindsight, we should have gotten up and sought him out. When server came to check on us, we had finished all but the raw steaks, which we had cut in small pieces to try in vain to find some edible portions. Without an apology, he offered to throw on the grill. We declined as it was unappetizing and too little, too late. This has always been our favorite place for special occasions- my birthday- and the service in the past was always exceptional! We left a basic tip, not the normal 20-25% as we felt the service was pedestrian- not what one would normally expected. Spending well over $300 (between the bar and dinner) left us feeling that the experience didn't match the expectations.
Our server was absolutely amazing. I am sorry I can not remember her name. The restaurant was noisy, but we had a window table, and it was much not as bad.
Always our go to place for great food, service and location....plus there's the hula pie which is always a must! The atmosphere is always great, no expectations of posh dress, it's low key while still being upscale.
