A disappointing evening. We ate in the bar and lounge area, which we typically enjoy. At a table along the back wall. Wine service was quick and friendly, a young lady from New Zealand, we learned that when we ordered a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, $19, and shared a few highlights of our several visits there. We tried a well-made regional Bordeaux, also $19. Other wines range from a Riesling for $17 up to a Napa Cabernet for $28 per glass. The wines arrived and then she disappeared. Perhaps a shift change? Another waitress came by about 10 minutes later to take our order. The menu includes nine starters, from salad to a blue cheese soufflé. The menu changes and contains different pasta dishes. The six entrées ranged from cheese ravioli to swordfish to rack of lamb to beef tenderloin, $80. They traditional serve an Amuse Bouche. Tonight featured a housemade potato chip. salty and spiced, with seafood similar to smoked salmon, Crème fresh, lemon, and caviar on top. (Delicious. Sadly, this turned out to be the best part of the meal.) We've enjoyed sushi and sashimi menu in the bar previously. The Roll menu includes lobster, ranch, market, crunchy, and others ranging in price from $24 to $35. We had to ask the server for the ingredients of the rolls she didn't have a complete list. So we went with the Tempura lobster roll topped with salmon, avocado, lemon, aïoli and dill, $35. The radiatori pasta ($35) with veal came out in about 15 minutes, and we started sharing. There was a big delay in getting the Sushi - 25 minutes. The waitress apologized and gave us a free glass of wine. There were only two other tables in the bar area being served, one person at the bar, and the main restaurant looked to be half full. The sushi chef near the front door (main kitchen is in the back) didn't look busy. Perhaps our order didn't get submitted properly? It's hard to imagine there could be such delays unless they are short-staffed on Tuesday nights. Or new staff?

This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food is incredible. The service was great. Overall 5 stars. From wine to starters, from entree to dessert, every single food item was amazing. This chef is extraordinary.

The $75 corkage fee was a surprise. It jumped $30 in the last 6 months. Maybe the server should communicate cost just for assurance. I understand that the restaurant prefers the guests not bring their own wine. Excellent dining experience, professional and personable staff and the food is always amazing. Always an amazing dining experience.

Truly excellent evening at Market with friends. Food service was on point and the wine service was, as it always is, superb! The flavors were enjoyable across our party and the portions were generous to a fault. No one was able to finish their dessert - although this was due to the filling meal rather than anything missing in the desserts!

Absolutely fantastic service and cuisine. It doesn't get much better than what you will find at Market.

The new ownership hasn't skipped a beat. In fact, did you know the only change was the owner/chef but his entire kitchen team is the same. The food and the creativity is off the charts. I also like the fact that the high top table in the lounge is available for dinner not just drinks. This restaurant is a super lively, delicious and amazing food destination.............oh....their sushi is crazy good! A MUST GO!

The food was excellent with impressive attention to the details of the presentation. Our server Joshua was very attentive without being intrusive. Overall, we had a great experience

Excellent food, very good service, very reasonable portions - leaning towards large. Food presentation is very appealing - eating with your eyes first. Appetizer, main course and dessert will leave you quite full, whether you go à la carte or the chef's 3 course menu.

Best restaurant in SD. New ownership has exceeded the extremely high level of the Market by its former owner. Food and service excellent. Mark is an excellent somm and has a great memory of guests' preferences. Chelsea and Luis were professional, attentive and accommodating. California dining at its finest.

Both my wife and I have been market regulars for many many years and had some concerns when we heard there was new ownership.... Quite frankly, they have improved it over what it was. The new general manager is quite affable and willing to get involved if necessary, a big change from before.... Some new pasta options, new steak options... Just a great experience overall ....db

Really appreciated the dim lighting and elegant interior design. Made for great ambience. This was followed by excellent service by our waiter Max who was superb in describing the food and wine options. The three course menu was appealing to the eye and palate. Definitely Michelin quality. Management visibly apparent and making rounds. Valet parking was seamless and quick. Will enthusiastically recommend and return.

MARKET Restaurant + Bar in Del Mar was an amazing fine dining experience and the perfect way to kick off my first visit to San Diego! It came highly recommended by food publications like Eater, and it definitely delivered.

The ambiance is dark, elegant, and upscale, with a high-end steakhouse feel. Parking is valet-only but just $6, which is a great deal for the area.

Our server, Chelsea, was phenomenal—attentive, warm, and spot-on with her recommendations. She really made the evening special.

MARKET offers a 3-course tasting menu, and I loved every dish. The salmon beet salad was vibrant and flavorful, the rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and came with delicious ravioli and Chinese broccoli, and the apricot cheesecake dessert with sorbet was the perfect light, refreshing finish.

I also tried a whiskey + St-Germain cocktail—unique and surprisingly well-balanced.

From start to finish, everything felt thoughtful and high-quality. Highly recommend MARKET for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in San Diego!

My husband and I have been coming to Market almost every Thursday for years! I’m not sure I have the right words to express the incredible taste of this delicious food. Everything I’ve enjoyed over the years has been consistently excellent. The atmosphere, the service, the hospitality are truly exceptional! And above all the amazing chef, Carl Schroeder!
