They seemed understaffed on a Sunday, which I normally understand, but our server repeatedly ignored our table while checking on others nearby. After the food came out, he never checked on us. For example, I ordered a drink before the food arrived and finished it before the food came out, and he didn't ask if I wanted another until I was almost done eating—asked while walking past without stopping, which made it awkward to respond. We meet friends for dinner at Sbicca every week. The food and service are outstanding. The ambiance is relaxing and pleasant. We are always greeted by the staff who call us by name and remember our drink preferences. There is a nice selection of items on the menu from which to choose.

Our server Vennie was AMAZING! Only bummer was the pasta noodles for the bolognese bc they were too fat and not al dente, too soft. Great sauce though. Salt and pepper shrimp was great but fries are just ok, not hand cut fries, frozen. But as always the most consistent dish and the best is the buttermilk fried chicken....the Best Ever!!

Sbicca has always been one of my favorite restaurants. We visit the area often, and it's usually one of the places I most look forward to. However, our most recent visit was really disappointing. We arrived at 8:45 pm, with the posted closing time being 9:30 pm. Unfortunately, the bartender seemed annoyed that we came in, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. When I ordered the filet mignon, I was told they were out and encouraged to try the steak tips instead. I was starving, so I agreed—but the steak tips were awful. The vegetables didn't look as fresh as they usually do, and the only part of the meal worth eating was the mashed potatoes. In the end, we essentially paid $130 for two drinks, my fiancé's lobster bisque, and the mashed potatoes. This experience really rubbed us the wrong way, especially since we always look forward to dining here during our staycations. It's simply too expensive for the quality we received. We arrived with 45 minutes until closing, and if the kitchen was shutting down early, I would have preferred to be told it was closed rather than be served overpriced, subpar food.

This is my go to place to visit when in Del Mar. I just love it. It has a nice vibe, great staff, decent food and a lovely place to visit. The best part is Tues and Thur they have half price bottles of wine and I am talking the nice wine! Just a gem.

Really nice variety on their dinner menu.... Salads, small plates/appetizers, pasta to fish to steak, pork chops, etc... Their wine list is also nice... So you should be able to find something to pair with your dinner. If not, try a mocktail, cocktail or beer. We sat on their upstairs patio where we could sort of watch the sunset over the water. Yes, there were buildings and trees in our sightlines but still nice. Service was very good considering they were slammed. Will definitely be back again.
