I come twice a week for my pilate class and decided to try this restaurant on a Saturday morning after my class. When I got in, half of the booth tables were still empty. I had my little one with me, so I asked if I could get a booth table because it’s much easier to secure my son from running around. The female waitress gave me a poker face and said all those tables are reserved and only gave me a tiny table right beside the entrance. I asked again, she refused again and left for the kitchen immediately. I had to go back to Paris Baguette my usual place instead. When I finished my breakfast from Paris, I noticed their tables were still empty. I wish the store owner could see this. Thanks. It was around 10:30 am, and your restaurant was half full only. No way table were all reserved for breakfast by others, and too early if someone reserved for lunch.

This place was disappointing. The amount we paid for our party of 7 was $180. I'm visiting from Vegas and for the amount we paid, we could've went to eat at a much nicer establishment; one that was worth it. My father ordered the chorizo plate, took 1 bite and it was dry so he sent it back and ordered a simple 2 bacon, 2 egg plate instead. The waitress told us that we still had to pay for the chorizo plate. What kind of restaurant does this? Though we're visiting, we'll be sure to stay far from this place and never return.

Very friendly server. Great coffee!! It’s not instant coffee normally you get from normal breakfast place. The food was great specifically Mexican breakfast.

Our first dining experience at S&J GRAN CAFÉ was a special treat. Not being familiar with the Diamond Bar breakfast restaurants in the area, we walked in on a whim. No doubt we will return.
I ordered Chilaquiles with chicken. The dish is served hot with homemade green sauce, egg, crispy home made corn tortilla chips, and toppings. Yum! I also tried their Mexican Mocha café, served hot.
My husband ordered a ham and cheese omelet. This dish is served with mashed pinto beans and three homemade corn tortillas. His dish looked like a smaller serving than mine, but that's okay because I now have leftovers to enjoy tonight.
The restaurant itself is modern in design with a colorful hand written menu mural of varying sized fonts. Very artistic!
As for the menu options, the dishes are influenced by a host of several Latin and Hispanic countries (e.g., Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala, Peru), and of course the U.S. Several dishes were accompanied with black beans or pinto beans, and plaintains were listed on a few.
The restaurant is at the back of The Plaza At Diamond Creek, so it is not easily viewed from the street. Our waitress was pleasant and readily answered all of my questions about the food. I highly recommend this place for your next meal.

Mediocre at best for food. S & J Gran Café charges for water and only provides it bottled. Asked for tap but won’t provide that either.

4 years later I went back. They've been proved considerably although the service still needs something to be desired. I ordered the Chile Chili's and they were very good. Not spicy enough for me but I guess I could have asked for a higher level of spiciness
I didn't care for it I hope they were just having a bad day and the photographer is doing a fantastic job!

Busy service could have been better. Follow up on coffee. Super friendly customer service.
Eggs Benedict: Hard boiled and grainy, definitely out of a packet. I repeat, menu says poached these were HARD BOILED AND GREY.
Pancakes: SPOILED AND SOUR. DEFINITELY USED EXPIRED MILK OR BUTTER. My table didnt even want anything else after taking 2 bites of that, will update if they get food poisioning.
Service: Server was nice but she forgot our mimosa and then when we told her about the pancakes, she said she would go check the batter??? Does this happen alot??? Kinda crazy.
Dont eat here
Pancakes were sour...
They can't even remember I ordered a mimosa
I got charged double for a burrito and they said because they have raised their prices. But on their menu it still has their “old” prices. $16 for a breakfast burritos is ridiculous.
The food was decent, but beware of additional undisclosed charges. I ordered a gran burrito and they charged an extra $8.59 to substitute the regular bacon for turkey bacon. I paid $30 for a burrito and water lol. The service was a bit slow but overall okay.
