I called the old # today by chance & much to our surprise, someone actually answered! Needless to say I placed an order immediately. “Guad’s Tacos and Beer is a small, clean Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is very chill. They have a vast selection of beers on tap and there are a few TVs around the restaurant displaying sports games. You order at the counter and the kind staff bring the food out to your table. There is a chips and salsa bar where you can help yourself. They have an excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan options on their menu. Their menu features vegetarian/vegan burritos, quesadillas, tacos, nachos, and more. They offer three different kinds of beans (black, pinto, and refried), all of which are vegan. They even offer soy chorizo as a plant based protein option. The staff is very open to customizations to their menu options (i.e, adding fries to your burrito, turning your burrito into a bowl, etc.). My go to order is their vegetarian burrito with grilled veggies added. I usually alternate between their black and refried beans. I usually pair my burrito with their delicious horchata (vegetarian). It’s very creamy, perfectly spiced and sweetened, and refreshing. The burrito is very large and can even be shared between two people for a lighter meal. All of the ingredients are perfectly seasoned and balanced. The chips and salsa bar is very tasty and fresh. They have a wide variety of different salsas and condiments. My only gripe is that none of the salsas are particularly spicy, so I usually add some of the habanero hot sauce that is on each table to my burrito for an extra kick. The staff prepares the food quick and you can even order online ahead of time at guadsdavis.com if you’re in a hurry. My meal usually comes out to under $15 which is perfect for college students on a budget. Being that it is a very short walk from campus, I would highly recommend Guad’s to all of my fellow vegans and vegetarians.“

“I was visiting from Texas and just happened to see this place from across the street. So glad we went in. Great service from amazing people. Food was excellent. Clean, clean, clean. We ordered the tacos, quesabirrias, and menudo. Tacos and Quesabirrias were great. Fresh ingredients ! I was skeptical about the menudo because everyone makes it different in Texas and it can have flavors you’re not ready for. Their menudo was great! Reminded me of my dad’s. Wish we had some of these in Texas.“

“If I could give more stars I would! The food here is out of this world incredible. My family and I live 2 hours out of Davis and stop by here on the way too and from Tahoe whenever we go ski in the winter. I’m vegetarian and my go to is the loaded potato tacos (the tostada salad is also incredible and comes on a huge tortilla). I’ve probably gotten the tacos over 10 times and they are the exact same every time. Potatoes are thinly cut, the cheese is perfectly crispy, and the cabbage slaw covering the entire taco is to die for! The salsa bar is also full of incredibly delicious and fresh salsa of multiple varieties. Debating going to college in Davis just so I can eat here every week!“
