Disappointing. Have eaten here before but this meal was much less satisfying than previously. Surprisingly for a bistro there was no bread service and when i asked was given 2 day old sourdough slice cut in half. Companions pasta was way overcooked. cauliflower puree with halibut turned up as mashed potato My steak was fine but dessert mediocre. Neighbourhood restaurants need locals to be regulars to survive. I would be hard pressed to return.

Disappointing meal in Bijou this evening. The staff and overall atmosphere were great. Mains however were a let down. €34.50 for the duck which only came with 3 slices of meat, red cabbage and one dry, tasteless fondant potato. Similar review for the venison. Everything felt under seasoned. Meringue roulade for dessert was delicious. Have eaten in bijou many times and have always loved the food, but we all left very disappointed with our main course this evening. It did not reflect the price at all.
If going i would advise you sit downstairs and not upstairs. The room upstairs needs a lot of work in my opinion. Very old fashioned with a granny's living room feel. The lighting is appalling lacking in atmosphere and way too dark though when turned up at our request so that we could read the menu, the room left a cold feel. There is a door that the staff use which should be put on a hinge as it BANGs everytime the staff used it. The background music sounds so tinny like it's coming from a mobile phone. This restaurant is very popular. The staff were lovely and outdoor area divine. Unless I was placed downstairs I would not attend again. I really hope the management read this and take my advice.

Always find this restaurant so lovely. Service is always excellent. They accommodated our big group of 8 inside. My partners vension main was a bit on the small side. Other than that it was a great evening! Thank you.

Bijou was a wonderful dining experience for our anniversary. My old fashion cocktail was perfect. The pate starter and halibut main were delicious. Topped off with a chocolate desert made for a grand evening.

Can be hot and miss, last night was a miss. Smell of grease like the ventilation wasn't work so bit like sitting in a chipper even though we were at the front. Starters were tasty mushroom tart and crab salad, but mains were very small portion size and not as flavourful as they should have been for the price- we had the halibut and lamb rump. Will still probably return to support local restaurant but hopefully they can tighten things up a little bit
Food was super. Only gripe would be eggs in eggs benedict tasted a bit watery. Everything else was delicious 😋

Have been going to Bijou since it opened many years ago. Have dined for many family occasions there. Always a positive experience except on this occasion. Service was just ok. The restaurant was almost empty and a couple arrived in and were seated right next to us, about an arms length away. We could hear their entire conversation and then ours I'm sure. Unnecessary as plenty other tables. I had the Haddock which was undercooked. Nobody checked if all was okay staff were changing over so a bit all over the place. Not their fault. Truffle fries were regular fries overloaded with mayo and cheese. Disappointing. Kitchen need to up their game, can do a lot better.
