This place use to be great when it was owned by the original owner and chef about a year ago. Since being taken over by an out-of-towner, it has extremely went down in quality of food, inventiveness of the menu, and they are never open. As of this last week a sign hangs on the window (again)-- 'closed for maintenance' yet there is no maintenance being done.Really very sad as this was one of the true gems in Dunsmuir.

Delicious food, very good service. We had the pork belly and a New york steak, both were very juicy and the pork was crunchy on the outside. Will surely come here again when visiting the area.

They debited $124 instead of $110. Not a big deal, but worth writing a review.

Café Maddalena offered one of my favorite food experiences in North America. Everything tasted so delicate, and the portions were plentiful. Add to that the staff's friendliness, and you can't go wrong. The atmosphere is also perfect: the music is at the perfect volume where it fades into the background, and you are surrounded with people enjoying their dinner.

Why hasn't this place received a Michelin star — we dined here in July for dinner and were lucky enough to call last minute and get a table. Everything that came on the table was nothing short of excellent. The chef and the team here are doing a great job and we're grateful to them for our experience.

My family and I went there with much anticipation and left fairly disappointed. The food was good but not great. The service was horrible. It took about 1 hour after ordering to get our salads. We felt our presence was an annoyance. The waitress was unfriendly and not attentive. I will not go back. There are other places to eat.

Tremendous spot!! Wonderful waitress, excellent meal. We had several of the starters (corn fritters, tomato tart with garlic aioli, stuffed peppers) plus our entrees. Entree portions may have been a bit small, but very delicious and that would not prevent me from returning!! The veggie entree was a highlight: chimichurri rice, roasted cabbage and grilled mushrooms.

My husband and I went there on Saturday for our anniversary. This was our second visit, but this particular visit was not as good as the first. To start, we had the tartine de jour, which was delicious, but for someone to share, there should have been an even number of pieces and not 3. The glass of prosecco was delicious. The beef tenderloin was season to perfection. The rest, I'm afraid, was seriously lacking. The thyme risotto had no flavor. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. My dish was the sablefish, bay rice, and carrots, all of which needed more salt/flavor. The rice was undercooked, and the burre Monte was good but needed salt. The fish was buttery/nice and flaky, but it was not seasoned and would have been better with crispy skin. The carrots were cooked but had a very strong char on them and again needed some sort of seasoning, even some salt would have been better. We had the blueberry angelfood cake for desert, which was delicious! I hope this gives some positive criticism considering we are locals and look forward to a nice place to eat. I look forward to more French inspired cuisine in the future. Also, please get ceiling fans. It was very hot inside and there was no ice in the water glasses.

The menu was short, but everything was good. Our server was marginal at best. She made several mistakes through the meal and didn't really seem like she was having a very good time. Dunsmuir is a quaint town and the cafe is in a cute part.

Delicious dinner in Dunsmuir! First time in the town on our way to Bend and we stopped for dinner here. Got the house made fettuccine pasta Bolognese and I requested a vegetarian pasta and the chef made a Cacio e Pepe. It was very good! Not huge portions but filling enough, and the bread was delicious. Dessert and appetizer was great too.
