I recently visited Sofreh in East LA for some vegetarian lunch and had a pretty mixed experience. The food wasn’t bas, but it didn’t stand out either. It felt like something I could have easily put together from Trader Joe’s or a local grocery store. For what they’re charging, I expected more. It just came off a bit mid and dry overall.
The BIGGER issue, though, was the layout. I literally fell on the concrete floor and landed on my knee walking toward the bathroom because there’s a step that isn’t clearly marked. There’s faded yellow paint on the ground, but it’s positioned right where the door opens, so you can’t really see it when you’re walking in. There was also no clear warning sign. The only sign was on the door you open and it said “Enjoy the patio,” which is… uhm, not exactly helpful when there’s a step hazard right there. I don’t think the place is terrible, but between the pricing, the underwhelming food, and the safety issue, I would not recommend.
Stumbled upon this gem during a stay in Monterey Park. DON'T let the parking situation scare you off. From the moment you approach, the aromas alone are enough to reel you in, and the meats deliver on that promise: flavorful, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth tender.

Bad service
The person working at the window is rude and even ignores you when you ask for things. She gets annoyed when you ask questions about the menu and makes an unpleasant face. In addition, the place is very dirty and they don’t even clean the tables.
Delicious 😋 the portion of the food is pretty big. It is an outside setting so the food does get cold quickly but a nice environment. The taste and spiceses of both chicken and beef are on point. The only thing I have to complain about is the small size of humus. I will return.

Very disappointing experience. The food quality was extremely poor and honestly made me feel nauseous. It was far below expectations and nothing like what I was hoping for based on the reviews. The taste, freshness, and overall quality were just not there. I would not recommend this place at all, and I hope others don’t end up having the same bad experience.

The restaurant was open air, which is nice. It has a very vibrant patio where you can eat after ordering, but do note that there will be no servers. The food was great, me and three friends got the chicken shawarma plate, gyro plate, beef shish kebab and lamb chops, and lastly the beef lule kebab plate. All of these dishes tasted really good, but my favorite had to be the chicken shawarma plate. The service isn't bad, but it isn't good either. They are nice, but compared to other dining experience, they are average. The wait time for us was roughly 20 minutes. And lastly the price, the price is not really as described. Each main dish was between 22 to 28 dollars each, and they have a mandatory tax of 10%, regardless of cash or card. Overall they were pretty good, but it would've been nice to not have to pay such a tax

I got a chicken Shawarma wrap and it was soooo delicious! I genuinely loved it. The flavors were immaculate! It was so good I had to order food to go to share with my husband and mother in law. The service was great, the atmosphere was beautiful, and my friends and I had a great time! 10/10 recommend! Will be coming back!

Sad that in times like this when our communities are being attacked this place is posting and supporting the folks that are the cause of the terror in the community where they choose to do business….

This was the best lamb chop I've ever had. The rice was also good, and the salad was very fresh, making it a very satisfying just meal.

Restaurant is super cute, photo op friendly. Food is good. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not greasy, nor salty. Clean. I had a Falafel platter, not bad at all. My sister had a Chicken kabob wrap. She liked it. Hummus was thick and not watered down! So that was a big plus. The hummus portions that came with our food were small though. And they have fat crinkle fries! So good! Shout out to the cooks and staff cleaning up the tables. Vegetarian friendly. Only vegan things on the menu that I noticed were the plain fries and the greek salad (minus the feta) We spend a little over $50 for two people. Parking was easy for me because when we arrived, there was a street parking that was opened and the restaurant was kind of empty. Not sure if there is more parking available 🤷🏽♀️ Seating is limited so it’s good for smaller groups. Children friendly. And a definitely a nice date spot. I would come here again, if I was around the area and craving Mediterranean/Persian food.
