Ordered the: shrimp fried rice, special dragon roll, crunch roll, and the California roll. Everything was great, tasty, and fresh. Will be back for sure. 2 thumbs up!

This was my first time coming to this place. I ordered several of their most popular rolls but unfortunately they didn’t meet my expectations. Each roll I went to grab kept falling apart, the rolls didn’t have enough flavor even though they had the extra stuff (masago, spicy mayo, soy sauce). I also ordered fried rice but it seemed like I was given reheated rice from days ago. I most definitely will not be coming back.

We do love Hana! However they do a few things that irk us. The first is they RUSH you. You sit down and they ask you a million times if you’re ready to order. Then your food comes way too fast. No separation of appetizers and meal. It all just comes out. They also put the rolls too close next to each other. And the rolls usually fall apart wince they smash the roll into the warm or cold plate interacting with the temperature of the roll. Their sushi making is just inconsistent.
Other than these specific annoyances which I will just start addressing when I come; we really do love Hana. The sushi is good but it has gone way down hill over the last year for some reason.

Nothing overly special about the place. We had a party of 10 and spent about $500 getting the LARGE boat which served about 15 different rolls. Others ordered individual meals and was just average. A large menu so there are plenty of choices to choose from. Can be expensive. Just a suggestion, if ordering one of their boats, might ask to have the rolls labeled as none of us knew which roll was which.

Ewwww, got the Katsu and teriyaki and I have to say I wasted a 100 dollars. The chicken here is boiled or something, they must not have a grill and the prices are so expensive for this trash. Nothing like Katsu cafe in Clairemont, won’t be back again ever.

One Star because the only reason to go to a sushi restaurant is the food. Service was fine but food was bad enough for me to never recommend the place. Sashimi was clearly frozen and not fully thawed either. All the fish had the slimy and extra fishy taste. Gyoza was fine, gyoza dipping sauce was good. I had ordered the hana special so I got nigiri sashimi and a roll.
Excellent staff and food. Very fast service
Our family go to sushi place! Great Sushi rolls, Ramen, Sashimi, and beer. Friends love when we bring them here too. Service is always great, staff is prompt and friendly and deserve big Tips!! Some of our favorite rolls are Crazy, Sergio, Sexy, Citrus, Rainbow, and always get a Chef choice off the menu. So fun when they bring it out on the big sushi boat. Recommend 10/10!!

best sushi i’ve had so far
The 3 dishes we ordered wasn't what I expected as a traditional Japanese dish. It lacked the flavor I'm use to
Best and freshest sushi rolls in El Cajon. Great presentation and portion size. Staff are very attentive and nice
I had the bento box with salad and the volcano roll. The chicken teriyaki was flavor less, the California roll was filled with 98% cream cheese and 2 % imitation crab, the salad not to my liking at all and the volcano roll is the worst roll I have ever had. It was so mushy, it tasted like bread.
Service was good though. They were very attentive.
Wow. Just wow. Incredible sushi for reasonable prices. The making combo, chameleon rool, and Kobe roll are flawless. El cajon doesn't deserve a sushi place this good. Highly recommend.
