I appreciated his transparency as I was wondering “what’s going on with in and out tonight?”. Andrew took my order, he was very thorough and efficient he got my order correct on the first try despite how busy he was. And at the window I had very friendly service. The food was piping hot and everything tasted amazing. I come here often but was impressed by the service at such a time as this”

“I went to Hilltop Deli today for lunch for a standard (my basic) roast beef sandwich; roast beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, on sourdough. Not only was the sandwich on point, it came with my choice of side (I wasn’t expecting). It was all so good and I have no need for dinner tonight. Well worth the visit. Staff is A+, too.”

“This place gets pretty busy on weekends! The parking lot may be full but you can still park along the street. It’s pretty large so there’s usually seats. I love the borracho fries, so good! Also the pulled pork and the cheeseburger are tasty too. The service is good as well. My one complaint is they run out of their popular items by 2pm, tri tip and hot links get sold out really fast. I know they can only bbq so much but maybe add some more of the popular meats?”

The attitudes and interactions with the employees is top notch, like a 5 star restaurant, they're always smiling and taking orders with a passion!! 1 day I drove by it in the middle of the week, after work around midnight, I noticed it had a decent sized line and was thinking I'll check it out. When 1st driving up it reminds you of the old school Taco place, with the menu posted on the walls, it has a little of grungy look, but for the most part everyone outside and around it do not bother you. I ordered at drive-thru a Cabeza quesadilla, Adobada fries & Texas Burrito, when I received my order, it was heavy and I was thinking maybe I got the wrong order or they may have put something extra besides the condiments in the bag. I got home opened it up and to my surprise, there was some heavy portions!! The price of the food is pretty much the same as other local shops, however the portion size was crasy!! I've ordered on a few other occasions since my 1st visit and the portion sizes are consistent, with lots of meat, veggies, sauce and extras, so now I know each time what to expect, as well as 1 meal may take me 2-4 days to finish!! There's a drive up window, a walk up window, a few tables for outdoor seating, no indoor seating and maybe parking depending on the time of day you go there. Mind you I'm a 300 pound man and I'm still having to save some of my food for my next meal!!”

“I was looking for a breakfast spot with soufflé pancakes and Tappi’s Cafe popped up, so we made the 20-minute drive and it was totally worth it! The menu was super unique, and the Dubai Chocolate waffles were definitely the standout for me. It’s more of a no-frills spot but the food was absolutely delicious and the service was great too. Shoutout to Mia for taking such good care of us. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their savory dishes!”

We were greeted by Pierre and he was professional, kind, and very informative of all the items on the menu. Everything on the menu looked great and hard to decide what to dive into. The restaurant is very clean open and very bright. I ordered the liver skewers with biryani rice. The skewers very flavorful, tender, and grilled to perfection, paired well with the onion, pickled beets, and pickles. The biryani was delicious. My wife had the beef shawarma sandwich on Arabic bread, which was tender and tasty. The potions are larger than expected which was great! We finished with a cup of hot tea. If you’re looking for some authentic Iraqi food, I highly recommend Al Awael, you will not be disappointed 😋”

Let me just say WOW… (and we’ve tried 10+ smash burger joints all around the San Diego area) Fries were dropped fresh in the fryer the second we ordered, which you don’t get everywhere now days. Nothing but good things to say about the smash burger, fries and their signature “Sizzle” burger sauce! This place deserves the hype! This will be our new smash spot.”
