No frozen cocktails like Miami Vice available despite being on the menu online and at the retreat bar. Other than that, good service and well-maintained.
I recently had a disappointing experience with a cabana reservation at this venue where we had planned to celebrate a birthday. We booked the cabana months in advance and confirmed our intention to stay all day, as it was a Monday afternoon and there wasn’t a lot of guests.
Initially, our server was polite, but after an hour and a half, she informed us that she wasn’t feeling well and would need close us out and leave for the day. We were only 2 people and had already spent $500 for the cabana, and during that time, we ordered fish tacos, a fruit cup, and a bottle of Don Julio Blanco. The bottle was poured into a pitcher that resembled a water jug, which was not what we expected.
Our server left, and we were informed that a new server would be with us shortly. After waiting for 2 hours, we finally met the new server, only to discover that the pitcher containing our Don Julio Blanco was missing. We had not consumed an entire bottle, but it was gone. The new server admitted she had mistaken it for a water pitcher and discarded it.
She promised to speak to her manager and get back to us, but we waited an additional 30-45 minutes without any follow-up. Eventually, they provided us with what they estimated to be half a bottle of Don Julio in a proper container, but no manager ever came to address the situation or offer an apology for the inconvenience.
Overall, the service was subpar, and given the high cost of the cabana, I cannot recommend this experience. The lack of proper communication and management oversight left a lot to be desired.
Love the lazy river , but wasn't able to fully enjoy a stay at the hotel cause the food made me feel sick ?
Once again another perfect experience at Retreat Pool! We had such a great time with the music, the people, our waitress Jasmine and just relaxing! Jasmine followed us everywhere and provide excellent service whether in the cabana, pool or playing black jack she always provided perfection in service! Such a great day and can't wait to return next summer for more cabana pool days!!
Sycuan no longer offers the industry discount for cabanas. When I called to confirm they said they would honor it but once I checked in I was told no. Our server helped us for a round and then came to tell us she was sick and leaving. Honestly, the service from check in to food and beverage was pretty bad.
Hi, our server Carnia, had an attitude when she arrived. Said she was on lunch, although our cabana time was 10:30, service was scheduled for 11:00am. Carina did not arrive until 11:30, with attitude. Then talked to the bartender, asked for help, his comment “ She's at lunch, what do you want me to do about it? “ Carina's demeanor slightly changed after her arrival. Every other server was very nice & helpful. Food was absolutely wonderful . Cari Haynes~
Slow service but our server was awesome. Some of the employees are rude which, when you spend $300 on a day bed kind of sucks but overall a decent experience

The music and vibe by the pool was fun and relaxing. Our waitress Jasmine was amazing! Couldn't ask for better service than what we got. Look forward to more summer cabana rentals in our future.
We had a great time. I wish there was a way to request what cabana you reserve. Adina was amazing, super sweet and attentive.

You won't get a chair unless you get there very early. You have asked people if they arent using a float. Customers shouldnt have to do that. And the lazy river should be for floating around, not standing at the edge drinking. There should maybe some kind dressing room and lockers.
The Sycuan Lazy River is a wonderful way to spend a warm day in San Diego. The pools and river provide space for lots of people. The setting in east county San Diego is beautiful. Our cabana server was very friendly and efficient. The food selection and quality is very good. $500 plus tax and tip for up to six people seems a little stiff to me.
Beautiful, peaceful and fun!
This place used to be a lot better just a few years ago, had great bartenders and great events which don't exist any more (I'm looking at you, summer movie nights and Snoop Dogg DJing). Fast forward to today the staff aren't friendly, the bartenders suck and it's no longer worth the $25 just to get in. Current staff needs customer service training along with bartender training. One of the bartenders couldn't make a Mojito to save his life. I've had better Mojitos at dive bars. After he made it he said they were out of mint which is a key ingredient and should have been mentioned before making it, not after. He did not ask me if I had a rewards card and just charged me and my friend's drink on the same card without asking. After taking a sip of it I could tell right away it was awful, even if it had mint and decided to try to just have another drink made instead because it just tasted like watered down soda water. The bartender was insistent now on finding some mint which I guess now magically exists? He threw it in there and didn't care that I wanted a different drink at this point. It was in no way shape or form worth $17 (was supposed to be $15 with the rewards card that he did not ask if I had). I had another incident with a different bartender when trying to order a frozen Piña Colada which is on the menu. He informed me the frozen "machine" wasn't working yet basically wasn't cold enough because he just added ice recently but said it would be ready in about 10 minutes. 30 minutes go by and I try to order it again and he tells me it's still not ready. I ended up ordering a spicy margarita which wasn't spicy at all and he forgot the jalapeños. Now onto the gambling room which I took a look at only to see 5 (count em), 5 slot machines, no gamblers and no black jack dealer. Might be the saddest room I've ever seen. Overall with incompetent and not so friendly staff, overpriced drinks and admission, lack of events and gambling I cannot recommend "Retreat" Pool to anyone.
Our waitress Jasmine was great. The food is mid but if you're coming to eat I wouldn't recommend we loved the lazy river and pool. I would return the service was good the only thing is I wish the the cut off time to order food and drinks was a later. Other than that we enjoyed our time.
