We reserved a daybed for our anniversary on Reggae Sunday, specifically to ensure we had a nice spot for the umbrella because my husband is fair skinned. It's my 1st time here, so I didn't know exactly how everything worked. Upon arrival, it didn't go very smoothly. The umbrella was away from our daybed and in full sun. When I said I needed shade, they didn't reassure me of it right away and fix the umbrella. Instead, I was offered another daybed. We went over there and immediately some real "gentleman" with his wife has our umbrella & says, "Well you're not getting THIS umbrella." He was just sitting in regular lounge chairs like he owned the place (not reserved anything.) I had to walk all the way back to the reservation desk and they were busy helping others. I found someone to help me go back to the other daybed (because I did not want to be near that guy) and I again insisted on an umbrella which they finally moved. For knowing I'm spending $300, I would have liked a little more effort from the staff in ensuring I was getting what I reserved before they left me to help someone else. Pros: - Daybed was comfortable & comes with Reggae Sunday band. - beautiful landscape and view - clean, plenty of bathrooms -umbrella for daybed could be moved, but I needed to request -The food was excellent -fun lazy river Cons: -actual band wasn't great, music not chill - way too loud for Reggae Sundays. It got a lot better after 3. - 18% gratuity is automatic. Our server was too busy with cabanas, and it took forever for us to order & get our stuff until Cabanas slowed down. She apologized. It's hard to ride the lazy river and get service. I didn't know I couldn't order my own drinks from the bar and put it on my daybed. The bartender wasn't very nice about it. They really should have an app for ordering. Waitress couldn't tell us our total easily. (Not sure if this is by design.) - drinks are very sugary, so we ordered a lot of beer -More umbrellas might ease tensions

Rented poolside daybed, and had a great experience overall. The service was great, they are very attentive and friendly. The adults only atmosphere made for a truly relaxing day. Food selection was descent, enough variety to keep you satisfied. The DJ added a fun energy but where we were sitting it was a bit loud. I will definitely come back for another fun, stress free day to soak up the sun.

Came to my favorite staycation to enjoy the pool for my bday and decided to get a cabana and it was worth it and had alot of fun . Although I wish there had been a dj in a Friday they had good music going on. Service was good and good & drinks were great.

So we spend a lot of money at sycuan we enjoy the games and the hotel. We love the pool. Great time ! But........ They need to list the holiday pricing on open table. I booked a month in advance and the price said 400 for Monday's. We stayed the night before and went to hang at the pool and get some drinks so I asked the pool Attendent if I can pick my cabana she said yes and I picked and confirmed the price was 400 still then the next day the tried to pull a 1000 bucks on me. We came came to an agreement and had a wonderful day! Great service great manager for working with us. I gambled and won. Best staycation in SD!

I recently had a disappointing experience with a cabana reservation at this venue where we had planned to celebrate a birthday. We booked the cabana months in advance and confirmed our intention to stay all day, as it was a Monday afternoon and there wasn’t a lot of guests.
Initially, our server was polite, but after an hour and a half, she informed us that she wasn’t feeling well and would need close us out and leave for the day. We were only 2 people and had already spent $500 for the cabana, and during that time, we ordered fish tacos, a fruit cup, and a bottle of Don Julio Blanco. The bottle was poured into a pitcher that resembled a water jug, which was not what we expected.
Our server left, and we were informed that a new server would be with us shortly. After waiting for 2 hours, we finally met the new server, only to discover that the pitcher containing our Don Julio Blanco was missing. We had not consumed an entire bottle, but it was gone. The new server admitted she had mistaken it for a water pitcher and discarded it.
She promised to speak to her manager and get back to us, but we waited an additional 30-45 minutes without any follow-up. Eventually, they provided us with what they estimated to be half a bottle of Don Julio in a proper container, but no manager ever came to address the situation or offer an apology for the inconvenience.
Overall, the service was subpar, and given the high cost of the cabana, I cannot recommend this experience. The lack of proper communication and management oversight left a lot to be desired.
Love the lazy river , but wasn't able to fully enjoy a stay at the hotel cause the food made me feel sick ?

Once again another perfect experience at Retreat Pool! We had such a great time with the music, the people, our waitress Jasmine and just relaxing! Jasmine followed us everywhere and provide excellent service whether in the cabana, pool or playing black jack she always provided perfection in service! Such a great day and can't wait to return next summer for more cabana pool days!!

Sycuan no longer offers the industry discount for cabanas. When I called to confirm they said they would honor it but once I checked in I was told no. Our server helped us for a round and then came to tell us she was sick and leaving. Honestly, the service from check in to food and beverage was pretty bad.

Hi, our server Carnia, had an attitude when she arrived. Said she was on lunch, although our cabana time was 10:30, service was scheduled for 11:00am. Carina did not arrive until 11:30, with attitude. Then talked to the bartender, asked for help, his comment “ She's at lunch, what do you want me to do about it? “ Carina's demeanor slightly changed after her arrival. Every other server was very nice & helpful. Food was absolutely wonderful . Cari Haynes~
