My experience at this place was absolutely terrible. The staff were rude and clearly couldn’t care less about their customers. The dishes they served smelled awful, and when I complained, instead of fixing the issue, they gave me a coffee cup instead of a proper tea cup. To top it off, the tea was ice cold. The service was painfully slow, even though the place was practically empty. I’ll never set foot in this place again, and I’d strongly advise others to not visit.
I found mold in a cake I purchased and immediately informed the staff. They were surprisingly unbothered and simply told me to pick another cake. Feeling disgusted, I requested a refund but was told they couldn’t process it because their manager wasn’t available. Reluctantly, I selected another cake, which they assured me was made fresh that day—only to discover more mold in the second cake. The lack of concern from the staff, even after seeing the mold themselves, was incredibly disappointing. This experience was both alarming and unacceptable.

We came here for the Baklava and Turkish delight. The honey Baklava was easily my favorite as it has a less harsh sweetness than the other kinds I tried. They were still amazing but the honey one just stood above the rest.
We also got a few kinds of Turkish delight the star definitely being the small rose ones that had wonderfully delicate rose flavor that avoided the pitfall of tasting like perfume.
For drinks we had the Pistachio late which sublime, perfectly roasted coffee and pistachio flavor. Also tried Mina's signature drink that was a rice pudding late with hazelnut flavor, it was very reminiscent of an horchata with different spices. I greatly enjoyed it.

I purchased the Turkish Milk Cake for my wife. The cake had been sitting out all day. When my wife received the cake, the cake had gone bad and was rancid.
When my wife spoke with the waitress, the waitress was very rude and in front of my wife, the waitress took the cake from my wife and tried the cake... then said there was nothing wrong with the cake.
My wife, in shock and disgusted, asked to speak to the manager... The owner came out and again in front of my wife did the same thing... the owner also ate from the SAME rancid cake... Then in a very rude and disrespectful way said... there's nothing wrong with it and you can eat the cake....
My wife, in shock and baffled by what had happened, said no... Just refund me for the rancid cake.... Again, the owner in a very rude way said no she will not refund her. My wife then asked for a new piece of cake that the waitress nor the owner had eaten from. Hesitant at first the owner agreed.
This place is ABSURD, DISGUSTING, AND VERY UNCLEAN. Instead of just taking the rancid small piece of cake back and apologizing they would rather lose customers.
We used to come here often before the owners changed. This was the first time with new owership, and it will be the last time we ever come here again.

The iced pistachio latte’s are incredible!
You know it’s good when there’s a line out the door! Ordered several different things, and everything was delicious. The baklava with ice cream was incredible, the kunafeh was oh-so-yummy, and the chocolate cake paired perfectly with their amazing specialty coffee they roast in-house—I was in heaven. Friendly service, a beautiful place, and ample seating make it even better. Skip dinner go straight here!

They left a bad taste in my mouth and a hole in my pocket.
My recent visit to Sultan Baklava in El Cajon left me feeling completely ripped off. What started as a simple pastry purchase turned into a frustrating experience with unclear pricing and what I can only describe as a price scam.
I ordered one pound of baklava and three pastries. Despite the baklava being priced at $20 per pound, my total came to a shocking $80! To add insult to injury, the cashier automatically added a $12 tip without my consent. When I questioned the total, there was confusion among the staff, and I ultimately ended up paying $92 for a few pieces of baklava and pastries.
What makes this situation even more concerning is the complete lack of pricing displayed for any of their items. This is not only inconvenient but also potentially illegal. Businesses are required to clearly display prices so customers can make informed decisions. I will be reporting this violation to the city hall.
The quality of the pastries was average at best, certainly not worth the exorbitant price I was charged. I urge anyone considering visiting Sultan Baklava to be extremely cautious. Their unclear pricing, automatic gratuity, and overall lack of transparency create an environment ripe for price gouging.

I always go to this baklava shop. The quality is very good. I just wonder why they don't use a warmer to keep the teapot warm. Another problem is with their staff. There were two young Afghan guys who used to work there. They were very polite and took good care of the customers. But after they left and new people were hired, the customer service and service became poor. The last time I went there was on Thanksgiving night. They were a little tired. I ordered black tea with cardamom flavor with some baklava and asked them for a trislic cake because they didn't have any in the fridge. They brought us a pot of cold tea with a strange herb flavor. When we told them about the problem, they didn't care at all and said that this is the same cardamom tea. 😅😅 The young girls told me that they didn't have that cake, but after about ten or fifteen minutes when our order was ready and we were finishing it, they put two trays of trislic cake in the fridge. The prices at this store are high and the service should be good, but with the behavior I saw from them last time, I probably won't go there for a long time.
