Steamed dumpling, Thaenthuk and their chowmein were so good. We ordered 3 curries, all three lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala and saag paneer had authentic taste as we ordered medium spicy. I think we could have also handled spicy level so would be coming back to try spicy. Their Tibetan food were best among many I tried in bay area.

Absolutely blown away by this place! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting, and the stunning interior set the tone for an unforgettable experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, providing impeccable service throughout. And the food? Simply out of this world every bite was an explosion of flavors. I felt completely relaxed and savored every moment. If I ever return to the States, this will be my go-to spot. Highly recommended!
One of the best Tibetan and Indian restaurants in Bay Area. Heard about guru curry for quite sometime but visited for the first time. This place has my heart. Very warm hospitality and delicious food were everything I wanted. Went with group of friends, everybody enjoyed it. Their new Tibetan menu was very simple and everything we tried were so so good. Everything about this place was praiseworthy. Highly recommended and definitely visiting again.

I used to visit this establishment frequently with my wife and son. As a Tibetan born in India, I can attest to the authenticity and excellence of their Indian and Tibetan cuisine. Their beef momo, which is similar to dumplings in Tibetan cuisine, is a must-try. Today, I sampled the pork Shapta and beef chowmein, both of which were exceptionally delicious and mouthwatering. My wife also prepares beef chowmein to take to work the following day. We had an enjoyable dining experience and look forward to returning next week for the beef momo.

This place is awesome! The okra in the bhindi was perfectly cooked in the spices, tomatoes and onion. It remained bright green!! Prawn Karahi was packed with delicious shrimp and vegetables. We love Vik's Chaat. Guru Curry is every bit as good but with a calmer vibe and much better service.
Kid-friendliness: There was a big table with two families and lots of little ones. Very low-key vibe makes it easy for the to roam around.

The BEST Indian we've had in the Bay Area! Came here for the first time and so glad we found this new to us spot, just 10min from home. Super fresh, perfectly cooked; ie the Bhindi the okra was tender and bright. For spiciness, when we stated that at other spots "medium" was not spicy enough he suggested "medium plus" which was perfect. Prawn Karahi was new to us and had so many complex flavors. The El Cerrito location has been opened a year. Owners and staff could not be better or more welcoming. For a great meal out (or take out) get to Guru Curry House.

Never Tried It !!!
MENU ITEMS look Gr8, but ' Quite Sadly ' it's not " Kosher - Halal Meat ' like a lot of their Competitors in the Vicinity '.
I was a ' Vegan-Vegetarian' for about 4 years in the ' 90's.
When friends invited me out to eat Desi Food @ TAJ MAHAL , SF - way back ; I resolved to Only Consume HALAL MEAT as it is far more " Cruelty Free " !!!!
Was just reading online yesterday about U.S. ' Mainstream Meat Industry '. Animals are ' Bludgeoned to Death ' by Injury to the Head. When the Animal does not die; it struggles in pain, and the Procedure is Repeated !!!
HALAL is :
#1. Much Healthier Meat as there are less chances of ' Blood borne Diseases . Ringworms etc. When the Animal is ' BLED '- Bab blood gushes out @ Hogh Speed ridding the carcass of Toxic Blood !!!
#2. Under " Halal Slaughter " procedure " - A prayer is Recited to Thank God, and the Animal for it's Sacrifice.
Also when the ' Jugular Vein ' is Slit - the Animal goes " Unconscious " instantly thereby minimizing it's Suffering. Thanks 4 Reading !!!!
Been there twice and food was bomb. Try new things and it will still be good
