They are back*at*it and we are so grateful! There were only 4 trucks when we went last week, but it was great to eat out with family, and just fell the atmosphere of seeing other groups of socially distant friends and family get together and enjoy some food outside. The organizers played music and it was overall very relaxing and well run. It's on a street that is closed off for the event and there's a divider curb you can sit on, or you can sit on either side of the street. The food was only so-so, some of the trucks are clearly the most popular and busy with longer lines, other trucks not so great and hardly any lines. Every truck was also selling out of specials so come early! I want to support these small businesses. Since the ACE now closes early, that parking lot is empty so a lot of people pulled their cars in and sat and ate in their cars, or waited for their food to be prepared there.

This used to be my favorite when it was located in Berkeley. It was a nice, date night for my husband and myself. I was sad when it closed in Berkeley, but happy to see it reopen in El Cerrito. But now, years later, it's sort of "meh". It's very small and only has 9-10 trucks, and they are the same trucks. And I can't eat from them because of my dietary restrictions. So, they have a small variety. It makes me appreciate Oakland more because they have so many trucks, I'm not stuck with going to the same places every other week. For me that's Koja Kitchen and Johnny Donuts (because they have a gluten free one). I like the location and want to like it much more than I do, but it is what it is, and it's not the best location ever. I find that when I go, I wonder why. I'd rather go to Sprouts, get some food, go home, cook and eat my meal than stop. That way, I actually get something that I want to eat and it's quite good.

Can Off the Grid in El Cerrito get any better? The answer is YES! Coming to this market since July 2013 I have seen people that work for Off the Grid come and go but it gets better each time. Their current Market Supervisor Ben is amazing! People still come and flock to Off the Grid Wednesday Night. If the weather is amazing then it will be crowded! Just bring a jacket to keep yourself warm. From folded chairs to tables with stools the market has become better!
