Aki San is a culinary artist. He has been a chef for more than 40 years (47years according to him). $150 omakase is such a good deal for the sushi he made (and his knowledge). I can not say this restaurant has the best omakase in the whole Bay Area, but at least it’s the best in east bay. Please come in and have a try before he retires.

Yes there is still a ton of space left, but the point of this is a wonderfully intimate experience (only 6 diners) with delicious food and fun banter with the chef. 10/10 would get scolded about how 90% of my previous sushi experiences have been subpar again.

Delightfully intimate omakase experience with a chef who's passionate about sushi and cares deeply about his craft. Exquisite flavors, beautiful space. If you're a bona fide sushi lover, you must give this place a try!
Son brought me here for my birthday, it was the best sushi I ever had. Place is tiny, but worth the effort to get a reservation. We got the tasting menu, and I loved trying things I might never have gotten on my own.

Place very busy.Very small, restaurant that doesn't accommodate alot of people with long waiting list. Server was very tentative too our table once we got seated! Food was very fresh, and delicious. Would recommend going early, especially on the weekendParking: Alot of parking available

More like Sushi No! Not sure what is so special about this place that a reservation is necessary. There was basically a room with all but empty bar seating. A ‘hostess’ rushed to us the moment we opened the door to shoo us out because it is ‘reservation only’.Note: there’s an excellent sushi restaurant just a block or so up the street - very welcoming, very good sushi.

One of the singular and complete experiences I've had, irrespective of cuisine. All sushi should be this. All truly fine dining establishments should operate from this level of personal pride and commitment to craft. The sides were also crafted with a level of skill and attenuation to detail and flavor that is world class. A must do, must eat, must experience.
The Omakase is outstanding. We had the twelve-piece menu. High quality. Fresh and delicious. The chef was very friendly and funny. Price is very reasonable. We made the reservation three months ahead of time. We'll definitely be back.

1. Book the next available reservation on yelp. Look out for last minute cancellations. 2. Order C Course - 16 pieces. Don't worry, you will finish it. It is worth every dollar. 3. Repeat steps 1-2. This is by far the best omakase sushi I've had (in this price range). What a dinner!
Hey
110% recommend Sushi Sho. Not only was food A++++. The customer service was so kind, friendly, helpful & gracious from beginning to end. Loved everything & will return soon!

You're lucky if you can get a reservation. You're foolish if you get one and don't get the $120 omakase option. The additional pieces are easily $60 more at other restaurants. Get the pressed salmon box. Thank me later. Note: I could have done without the raw quail egg but everyone else loved it. If you know that you can't handle raw egg, let the lady know at the beginning.

I went to Sushi Sho in August because I wanted to try an omakase experience and noticed a lot of places didn't let you make a reservation for a party of 1. But Sushi Sho did! I entered a small restaurant with 11 other people all seated around the Sushi chef's counter. I was a bit nervous to their 16 piece Omakase by myself (my phone was on low battery - how was I going to entertain myself?) But all of the other guests near me were friendly and engaging and I didn't feel like I was dining alone at all! The food was delicious. I personally am not the biggest fan of wasabi but traditional sushi does have some on most nigiri pieces so that was a bit harsh for my palette. While they were all delicious, my favorite pieces were the chefs specially smoked salmon (absolutely melts in your mouth), the one with the egg (can't remember the specifics), the uni, and the two eel pieces. Absolutely recommend this place!
