I’ve been wanting to write a review ever since we first came here to enjoy the best all-wood smoked BBQ on the Coast! No wonder it is part of the Michelin Guide 2024! The brisket is irresistible, so tasty and juicy, everything is delicious! The friendly and knowledgeable bartender George provides outstanding service, makes wonderful conversation, and obviously loves his job! Keep up the good work, the quality, and the vibes in the soon to come new place up the Highway!

Seriously, this is a restaurant? When I showed up at 7:04PM looking forward to dinner, I was sent away. They close at 7. At 7PM when most people barely are off work? That’s harsh. I want to like this place, I’m sure the food is as good as people say. But shutting the kitchen down at 7PM does not make Breakwater a real restaurant. Please try harder at the new location.

Great little place for delicious Texas style BBQ. The aroma of smoked pork fills the El Granada neighborhood to get you ready for a delicious treat. Ribs were so tender and perfectly seasoned. Brisket similarly perfect mouth watering meat. Unlike some BBQ joints who fill out the order with overcooked pieces, each we got was succulent. Sides are not an afterthought either. Beans and greens with pork was blackeye peas and greens with lovely pork bits. It could be a meal in itself! Apple slaw was delish. Creamy and not overly vinegar. Staff changed my order to use a platter to save cost. I would have gladly paid the a la cart price!. I highly recommend this spot.

Great meat, and quality ingredients.
Their house made hot sauces was a bit magical. Not your traditional sauces, but a fantastic twist to bbq.
Some say their brisket needs their hot sauces, but I think they're great as is; presenting the quality of the meat. Maybe more salt, but that's probably just my pallet.

The customer service was excellent. The food was pretty good. I wish they had better barbecue sauce and just more choices in the sauces. And I wish they had a fountain drink. We had free refills you get thirsty pretty quick they only sell canned sodas. Super disappointed that they did not have hand wipes when eating barbecue. I had to keep running to the bathroom. That was a little disgusting. They should clean their bathroom more often.
