Food is good but...... They can't keep up with demand, specially during the seasons. It's a let down they don't specify to pre order. You can't be a tamaleria and not have tamales! It's better to go to long standing reliable restaurant in El Monte and get your tamales.

It's a hit and miss these days but they're still very good when you catch them on a good day. Up till now I've not had a bad experience there. I've been going since I lived in El Monte and me ex even used to work there way before I even met her. They're always delicious for me and I frequent them constantly. Green tamales are still my favorite.

I usually go to the El Monte location but since they opened one closer to me, I came to la puente location. The ladies here are really rude. I wont be coming back.

Very 😞 disappointed. I bought chicken tamales and they are raw and dried. It didn't have any green or red sauce--no flavor at all. For the price of one tamal $3.50 each it's not worth the buy.

Red tamales were very moist and delicious 💯. As for the corn 🌽 was ok. Masa only, no corn mixed with the masa. Had some corn taste. I will be back 👍🏼💯 to try the other ones. Haven't been here in about 6 months because of the tamale quality & rudeness.

In my opinion from what I’ve experienced, the woman who was cashier was rude. Maybe it was just a bad day I caught her on but she had attitude. Maybe welcoming in a better mood will want customers to return back. Also the tamales I ordered weren’t cooked well. The masa was raw and the mole didn’t have flavor. The champurrado was more like hot chocolate, it wasnt thick how I’ve had it at other places, and it was very sweet. I expected better and I drove about an hour to get there.

I have bought tamales from Maria's for years. It's been a while since I bought tamales. I didn't realize they were under new management. I was so disappointed with the tamales. They are so expensive and the tamales was under cooked, the pork was without taste and barely had any masa. I'll be looking for another place. I'm sorry to the new owners but your product is just not worth what your charging.

My family has been going here since the 90’s. Almost every weekend and even during the week sometimes. This was the only place we go to for tamales. When my family comes from Texas this is a must for them. My sister and all my nieces and nephews look forward to it. It has been a while since we went back and finally went this past weekend. I was so disappointed because I was craving tamales from Maria’s Bakery and was excited to buy some, but the tamales tasted so different. I got 6 red pork tamales, 5 green pork and one green chicken tamale. They weren’t fully cooked, the flavor was completely different from the OG Marias Bakery tamales. The flavor in the masa was plain, the chile in both the red and green sauce has no flavor. Also it’s a little pricey, I got 1 dozen and a small little plastic cup of salsa and it was $40.32. I don’t know if it’s a new family/owner running this place now, but if anyone knows where the OG Maria’s bakery people are let me know. I don’t know where else to buy tamales. Or is it the same family but now it’s the kids/new generation running it?

I'm i wrong? Do these tamales taste a lil different now? I've been buying these tamales for years @ Marias bakery/tamales... they taste different. Does anyone know if the business was recently sold? Just curious 🤔
