Decent, but not life-changing. Flavors on-point, but a bit subdued for a non-Lao/Thai clientele.
Fried Chicken Salad, a novel / rarely seen option. Crispy crusted breast served on a normal salad mix ubiquitous in any supermarket.
Dark interior, with no windows — counterbalanced by a very friendly, smiley staff.

Coming to Maya Thai Laos is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes it’s hella good and other times the food is too sweet. From the khao piak chicken soup to bbq pork to larb chicken. Honestly when I think of Thai food I want it flavorful and savory not always sweet. I’m a little disappointed again because the food I got here today was all sweet. I will give this place another chance. I will just pass by once in a while.

Good, and I'm not that big of a fan of Thai food.
If you like spice, get it hot, and they will not play around about it. If you don't want hot, don't play around about with it.

MAYA THAI has amazing service and delicious Thai fare! There are a couple delicious options that are safe for celiacs. We didn't get sick and we enjoyed the food! MAYA THAI serves HUGE portions.
I love their shrimp rice paper roll thingies. THEIR HOT PEANUT BUTTER SAUCE IS SCRUMPTIOUS!
The server, I didn't get her name, was very nice and loved to talk.
Dietary restrictions: Our particular server was very helpful and accommodating to our Celiac disease.
Parking: The music was 80's dance/disco. 😎

I tried to encourage my 12 yo to go to a different Berkeley Thai restaurant last night. His response was, "Dad, if it isn't from Maya Thai, honestly, I'm not interested."
Vegetarian options: I have also ordered take out many times, too. Always excellent. They close at 8.30 pm not 9 pm. Google screwed that up, oc.
Dietary restrictions: Very GF aware.
Kid-friendliness: Love kids.

In town on business and went here based off reviews. Everything was great. Drunken noodles were tasty and spicy. Had a beer from Laos (Beer Lao dark) which was a first for me and great.
What won me was I accidentally left my CC there and didn’t realize it until next day. With timing being difficult between their hours and mine, I wasn’t sure I was going to get it back since I couldn’t get there until right at, or a little after closing time. The women who works there (I failed to get her name) said she’d wait for me after hours, and she did.

Great options love the variety. Vegan friendly. Really enjoy the food.
Vegetarian options: Not only vegetarian but vegan. You can pretty much ask to leave me at or egg out of any dish. They are knowledgeable about what is not vegan.

Super tasty curry with noodles. Great flavor, appropriately spicy. Also had the mango sticky rice which was good as well.

I got food for takeout! Unfortunately no pictures because I was too excited to eat, haha. Ordered online and food was not quite ready when I arrived to pick up, but the lovely person behind the counter was eager to help me with packing utensils and extras. She asked if I wanted hot sauce and I agreed; came home to find out she had packed not only a container of chili sauce, but also individual containers of chili oil and chili powder! It also turns out I didn't need it; the spice here is real, haha. Not enough to stop me from eating it, but enough to remind me of consequences a day later. As others have noted, the pad see ew (and probably the pad Thai though I have not tried it yet) are sweeter than I am used to. I'm not sure why it gave me vibes of maple syrup.Everything was well packed. I got the khao soi (curry noodle soup) and none of it spilled in transit. I don't know why the restaurant was pretty empty around noon on a Wednesday, but I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu.

If you like spice, this is your place. Some dishes have their own take, so ask your server. We got thai spicey and while I take spice heat very well, but a lot of these dishes were too spicey for me to taste/enjoy.Green Curry - Stong ginger flavor, blends well with the spice, but not for everyone.Thai Fried Rice - Suggested by the server. Good flavor, well cooked.Pad Kee Mao - Definitely their own take and a bit saucy for us but a fan of the spice and how it was cooked.
