Tonight, 7/25 at 9:40pm, 20 minutes before closing I took my son to pick up ice cream. This is our 3rd time this week going here. We wanted 3 Monkey Business and 1 Medal Ribbon. The young man says “we already put the Monkey Business away, can I get you something else?” As a multi-restaurant owner myself AND someone that literally gets ice cream here minimally 1x a week, sometimes 3x a week I was floored by this Saturday night staff.

Usually we’d get Handels on Saturday night based on location and us eating out; NEVER have they at Handels been like - “sorry it’s really late and I don’t want to do my job so can you choose something easier for me to get?”

The staff member that asked me this got a stern look from me as I answered 3 of my orders are Monkey Business so he went to retrieve the flavor and make the $30 of ice creams I wanted. To be honest, why aren’t we holding our employees more accountable? You won’t catch one of my restaurant staff pulling this crap. The fact that he got an attitude as if I was asking for someone hard was quite frustrating to me.

Why do you franchisees not hold your staff accountable to good customer service till the last minute of your posted hours? At $20/hr here in CA, why not “make them” do their job and earn you $ as I’m sure all restaurants could use it.

What I noticed while he was retrieving the ice cream container is that an entire case was already empty (half the stores flavors) with 20 min left in the shift. Why? Do the potential customers not matter AND how long does it take to carry the containers to the freezer “if” they need to come out of the case at all? I only clear my own cases at my restaurants on the slowest night; why are you clearing yours on what should be the busiest night? Anyway……..

So the kid starts scooping and slamming the utensils around. He has no care to provide the service that he should be, the two girls working had zero customer service mindset either - hurriedly trying to get stuff done to leave right at 10pm on the dot. The cone that was ordered was half the volume of any cone I’ve ever gotten here! See, I’m a loyal customer and have been since March of 2021……. TODAY, was the worst service I’ve ever received in ANY ice cream shop in all of great Sacramento.

I will say this though, it’s not the company, or the quality of the ice cream, this was truly this particular staff. The young man, and the two girls couldn’t have cared less if I got a what I wanted cause they’d carried the container 10’ max to a freezer and it was going to ruin their night to provide quality customer service to they were closed I reckon.

On a positive note, the weekday staff usually includes one taller girl that always “no matter the time” busts her butt and I’ve even tried to hire her. She’s always amazing with all customers, including my family and for that I’ll be sure to check if she’s working or not moving forward. Most likely though, Handles will start getting most of my business! Their ice cream is always better as is, but until today I went to Baskin Robbins cause it’s closer and the family can walk there.

* This “was” my 5 star review originally: My wife and I visit here often; we used to walk with the kids but now my wife is hecka preggers so we drive! No matter, I’ve yet to find a better milkshake spot that has this speed, serves up any combo you want, and always makes our kiddos smile! Much love to Baskin Robbins and the crew!

Horrible. Ordered through DoorDash. Ordered strawberry with hot fudge. Got no hot fudge. Wife ordered Reese’s ice cream got chocolate
And she hates chocolate. Straight horrible way to run a business with mediocre ice cream

I wasn’t feeling good yesterday and of course I wanted ice cream so my husband set out to get ice cream for wifey. My order was a little complicated so when he got to Baskin-Robbins, he handed them the phone and I spoke to one of the employees there. I mentioned to her that I wasn’t feeling well and sorry if my order sounded complicated. When I open the Baskin-Robbins bag this was the sweet note that was handwritten on my ice cream cup lid. My husband did not even see them do it. How sweet of them.

Got off of work and made it with 20 minutes to spare to get ice cream for my pregnant wife. But the workers locked the doors and stayed in the back even with the open sign still on…

Please start using hair nets or put hair up and start washing hands before serving a customer. I guess it's more in your face than other fast food but when you can see it...Anyway they were nice. The item was good. Hope to not get sick

The waffle cone tasted worse than a fortune cookie. It was probably a week old. They don’t offer tap water for free and they make you pay a couple dollars for it which could make you really thirsty. Overall bad experience.

Go to Leatherbys…THEY HAVE BANANAS ..baskin robbins in Elk Grove doesn’t know how to order bananas but show bananas on the menu….what a joke

Got a single scoop on a cone, the scoop was so small it barely came out of the cone. Expensive and these employees make sure to give you very little ice cream. Ive always been a fan of baskin robins but 4.29 for a very light scoop is very discouraging. Google wont let me post my photo its a depressing scoop of ice

Whoever owns or manages, this company should be so happy to have an employee like KATIA ! She was so kind, welcoming and had no issue giving us a few samples. Her smile, warmth and recommendations were amazing. She made me never want to go to another location again. She is absolutely amazing and I wish my company was hiring so I could steal her for myself. Lol. Thank you Katia for such an amazing experience. Your employer is so lucky to have you!!
