Every now and then they run a special of "Chicken Mole" and it is to die for! Best I've ever had! The way the ingredients and spices blend along with the generous amount of chicken involved makes this my all time favorite dish not only here but anywhere! As always the service is top notch and the ambiance is amazing. Always a pleasure to frequent this Elk Grove landmark. It's been here for 25 years for a reason.......because it's good! Very good! This place is not vegetarian friendly. They do not accommodate or substitute other items (ie avocado, veggies etc) to your dish for meat. Food looked like it was made at home so basic tasting and looking. I usually never write reviews but the food and the service made me so disappointed. Ordered the potato taco and cheese enchilada. Taco came in hard shell with nothing else but boiled potatoes . The cheese enchiladas, some cheap material tortilla with cheese, with some weird gravy that had no taste. Beans and rice that was clamped together.

Went to this restaurant before the pandemic, and the food was absolutely delicious. So I went back today and ordered the Chile Verde with rice and beans. The Chile Verde and rice had no flavor, bland. The beans were ok. I don't normally salt my food but I had to add salt and it still didn't taste good. So disappointing, I should've gone to Super taco.

2.5 stars but rounded up to 3 because I really wanted to like this place. Glad there's a nice sit down mexican restaurant in Elk Grove that isn't self serve. The server, teno? was very nice to me and my partner but we can see how his tone made him seem unpresentable to some as there were wandering eyes about the way he communicated to tables nearby. Again, no problems with us though. Sadly, me and my partner won't be coming back due to the quality of food. Surprisingly, we went here because of the ratings on Yelp but the food was flavorless, soggy, and oily. Our sauce tasted like gravy which had a nasty consistency (booger like) that did not make the meal appetizing at all. They are very generous with the meat but as mentioned, nothing was flavorful. Personal experience Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 1/5 No offense to any of the crew, it's just the food :(

The waiter was really nice and brought out complimentary beans and rice for my kid. Chips and salsa was good. However I got the chicken taco and it was so gross. The color of the chicken was like mouse gray. It smelled gross and looked gross. Beans and rice had no flavor except high sodium and fat. We were seated 20 mins before order was taken and there was a table who got seated way after we did and they took there order first. I literally was shocked as to why this place was so busy. The area we were sitting there was a hole in the wall. I should have took pictures. Nice people and Staff but the food was not.

The 3.5 stars is very misleading. This place is 5 stars, best in EG. The atmosphere feels very homey and comfortable. The service is amazing and the food and drinks are even better!! I highly recommend!

Food and service consistently great! Love the Pozole as well as the Huevos machacas, and huevos con chorizo. My mom and dad love their taco salad and hubby the carne asada and carnitas.
