My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining here several times since it opened and I am sure we will return for many more of Chef Ryan’s spectacular dinners. His Parker House rolls and accompanying seaweed butter are truly unsurpassed, as are his crudos. And his pastas are always inventive and the best of the best. We didn't have the black cod this time, but its one of his standout dishes. The Japanese Ramen was incredible - the time and care Chef Ryan puts into that flavorful bowl really shows with each bite. We’ve never once met a dish we didn’t fall in love with at Greenwood. We should also mention the warm and attentive service and the hospitality of the whole crew.

We went for a birthday dinner and absolutly loved the food and experience. Even got the somalie to open up to us. My partner and I both agreed that this was the best dinner we have ever had. We spoke with the chef and you could tell he is very passionate about creating an incredible experience for guests. We loved every dish and the wine was great! 10/10 would reccomend if you are in the area. Great food and great people!

Words cannot describe what an amazing (pretty life altering) experience my fiancé and I had here. From beginning to end, I thought I was at a Michelin star restaurant.

Greenwood restaurant is right next to Sacred Rock Inn (where we are staying) with an intimate 22 seat seating where ingredients are locally sourced. The menu is carefully curated by Chef Ryan Seal who is an absolute beast. You need to make a reservation!! While you await your table, you are offered a complimentary champagne which was delicious. There is a wine professional there named Natasha who helps you find the right wine for your preference and food pairing. A majority of the wine is also locally sourced from nearby wineries which was super cool. Janelle was our server and she was the absolute best and was super attentive.

Now onto the dinner menu.. y’all. Here is what we ordered and we loved them all. And the best part was that Chef Ryan Seal would come out and explain each individual dish to us, making the experience so personal and engaged.
-Parker House Rolls: Sourdough with seaweed butter (that butter was craaaaaazy I can’t stop thinking about it)
-Heirloom tomato salad: My fiancé loved this and said the tomatoes were the best he’s ever had.
-Cacio e Pepe: Holy smokes. This blew our mind. My fiancé and I agreed that this dish tiered a little higher than the others but maaaan. My mouth is watering thinking about it! It was perfectly salted and honestly all of the dishes were perfectly salted like I can’t explain it.
-Mendocino black cod: The cod literally melts in your mouth, paired with Yukon gold potato foam (which also blew my mind like foam mashed potato WHAT). The cod is locally sourced and I have never tasted cod like this before.
-Honey glazed duck breast: I’ve had duck many times before but man, this duck breast also melts in your mouth in the best way. You would think it would be a bit tougher but jeeeeez. Chef Ryan knows what he’s doing yall!!
-Chai tea panna cotta: Super unique flavors, I love chai and this was the perfect light dish to end the night.

All in all, I loved loved loved my experience here and highly highly recommend stopping by and checking it out if you’re in the area. It was a truly unforgettable night. I can’t stop thinking about each dish hahah.

Greenwood is a gem! The food is thoughtful and really well executed. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and just a delight to speak with. Sure the Harbor Inn has the gravitas, but Greenwood is not to be missed!!

This was our favorite meal of the year. Greenwood is very small and intimate, and the service is incredible. The chef brings each dish out and explains it in the most approachable way while clearly expressing how passionate he is. The Parker rolls are amazing, same with the 48 HR short rib, and the pork belly was out of this world. We wish we tried a pasta as the chef mentioned that is one of the favorite things to make.

The PB&C is not to be missed - an amazing dessert. I don’t think there’s anything not exceptionally done on the menu, we loved everything we tried.

The service is absolutely incredible, same with the location of the restaurant. We absolutely loved it.

We had two meals at Greenwood. The food is outstanding - inventive, beautifully presented, and delicious. The service from everyone - host, wait staff, sommelier and the chef (who came out to present each dish) was exceptional.

What a cozy restaurant – a casual atmosphere but fine dining food with intricate plating and layers of flavor. Housemade pasta is definitely a highlight here – I really enjoyed the wild chanterelle ravioli and soon there will be porcini mushrooms in season for this dish. Start with the sourdough Parker house rolls with seaweed butter, and all of the appetizers are wonderful. Uni carbonara is really delicious as well, using local uni to add depth and a rich creamy texture to the sauce. Chef Ryan Seal is really talented and in the kitchen every night, often serving dishes in the dining room too and saying hello to guests. The carrot cake dessert was my favorite. I don't normally like carrot cake, but this one is more delicate and sophisticated than you might expect!

This is one of the only restaurants in town open on Tuesday, and there are only 22 seats so you'll definitely want to make a reservation in advance.

We are staying in Mendocino and wanted to try someplace we hadn't been so we tried Greenwood Restaurant in Elk, a very tiny town south of Mendocino.
Chef Ryan Seal is an amazing talent, skilled and creative.
He personally delivered each course explaining the ingredients and preparation which only increased our enjoyment of the dish. Despite being a towering talent he was friendly and approachable. Each and every bite was met with a "wow" from us as we enjoyed the creative tastes and satisfying textures of the dishes. I cannot remember enjoying a dinner to this level of pleasure and look forward to our next visit. The other staff members were attentive and professional and the 22 seat restaurant was beautiful. If you enjoy a fantastic meal delivered with poise and attention you owe it to yourself to make your way to Greenwood. Little River Inn is not far, where we stay when we are in the area, so book a weekend and travel the 15 miles or so to Elk and have a memorable time like we did.

Fresh, innovative, Californian dishes with select Mexican inspirations. As other reviews said, this place operates and delivers as if it has a Michelin star end to end. Beautiful location and views from the restaurant. Highly recommend and would return!

Gorgeous setting (the flowers outside!), amazing meal-- certainly michelin star level food and very reasonably priced (~$40-50 for an entree). Get in before they get their star and jack up the prices!
