I recently went to Sago and honestly loved the whole experience. The vibe was very tropical Tulum-inspired super cute, aesthetic, and perfect for a cute date, night out with girls or content spot!
We tried a few dishes and everything was so good:

The kimchi marble potatoes were crispy and flavorful with the cilantro, chimichurri, and chive crema (definitely one of my favorites). The cucumber salad was really fresh and light with a nice kick from the serrano and ponzu. We also had the hamachi ceviche, which tasted super fresh, and the Japanese fried chicken with chive kaluga caviar which was crispy, juicy, and just a really fun, unique dish.

The drinks were also super refreshing and slightly tropical, perfect with the food.

Overall, the atmosphere, presentation, and flavors were all on point. Such a cute Encinitas spot and I’ll definitely be back to try more.

One of our new favorite restaurants. There was not a single miss on the menu. We ordered pretty much EVERYTHING from the tomahawk, chicken and caviar, broccolini, mie goreng, tuna sashimi, hamachi ceviche, kimchi potatoes. All 10/10. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. Staff was also too nice.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 4-year anniversary on Friday the 13th, so this experience was especially disappointing for us.

We had a 9:30 p.m. reservation but weren’t seated until 10:00 p.m. Once seated, we waited about 20 minutes without being acknowledged by a server. We tried to politely get someone’s attention. My fiancé even raised his hand toward the host when she was nearby, close enough that he almost touched her arm… she had clearly seen us, but she appeared to ignore us. Eventually, I had to physically get up from our table and look for someone just to be able to order a drink.

A young woman who was not even our assigned server kindly took our drink and dinner order. She mentioned she would send our server over, but we never saw them. To her credit, she checked on us once more, and we appreciated her effort. She was the only bright spot in an otherwise discouraging evening.

The food itself was okay, but the lack of attentiveness and care really left a sour taste that made it hard to enjoy our meal. We were hoping for a special, memorable anniversary dinner, and instead we left feeling overlooked and disappointed.

my partner made us a reservation for our three year anniversary and specifically selected the restaurant, not the high top tables. it seems as though the hostess forgot our reservation because we were seated at a high top in the bar area next to a large opening in the wall. upon being seated, we inquired if they could close the glass window because we were quite chilly. our server told us the couple that had been eating at the table before us had also complained about being cold and that they were waiting on someone to come close it. it took 40 minutes being uncomfortably cold before someone who was presumably the manager came over and asked if we wanted the window closed.
our servers were great and the food was tasty, but our broccolini that we were really excited for never came out from the kitchen and we ended up cancelling it and getting our check.
the vibe and food were good, but it’s equally important to make sure your customers are having a good experience :)

Trista was the best and most sweetest server last night!!! The vibe of this restaurant is exactly what I like on a chill weekday night. Really relaxing live music but the choice to get a lot livelier on a weekend night! The food was amazing. The chicken with the friend rice was the best chicken I’ve had I’m not even kidding lol. The tuna tartar was also to die for. I also had the steak skewers, the caviar, and the noodles which were amazing.

We went to celebrate our friends 41st bday on a Wednesday night and it was great. The staff asked us if we were celebrating something special and made sure to remember it was our friends bday when dessert time came. Our server was super friendly and helpful with choices on the menu. The food and drinks were delicious- so much flavor in every bite. We had the hamachi and tuna crudos, broccolini, lobster bao, chicken skewers, and the yummy dessert. It was plenty of food for us to split. The waitess said it's louder on Fri & Sat when a dj is there, and sometimes on Thursdays depending on the dj. It was the perfect volume level for us to have a conversation and still have ambiance.

I was thoroughly impressed by how good the food was for such a trendy spot!! I had tuna sashimi, ceviche and cucumber salad to start and the fish was so fresh and flavorful. The chicken and caviar bites were so delicious and juicy same with the steak skewers. Enjoyed a few cocktails and the servers were super nice and friendly. Overall a great spot and would totally go back for date night or a girls night

Sago in Encinitas is SUCH a vibe. The ambiance was amazing — perfect for a girls night out, but also would be so fun for a date night. The whole place feels trendy, lively, and honestly just the perfect spot if you’re looking for something a little elevated but’s

The menu is super unique with fusion-style dishes so it’s a great place if you want to try different flavors and share a few plates as it is tapas style.

Also… definitely make a reservation because it gets BUSY as the night goes on. They even had a DJ playing later in the evening which made the energy so fun.

Would 100% come back:)

Live DJ, great food, dope esthetics, can't go wrong with a date night, but make sure you talk loud!

Night club atmosphere with a DJ. This is not a place for conversation over drinks and small plates.

Was extremely loud and busy. Was barely any room to eat dinner, and was practically just a Club
