Great cocktails, the martinis are on point, love the Wahini salad, the ravioli was delicious, the tacos were fantastic. Ian was a terrific waiter. Love this place for yummy grub and terrific drinks.

Regretfully experience was extremely unpleasant. We had a party of 5 traveling far to visit with each other and 1.5 hrs into our dinner were told we have 30 min before we need to leave for next reservation. This is absolutely unacceptable! Not ever have we heard of this and have been there several times before! We were offered a table inside (there is a reason I reserved outside patio because the music is too loud) or we had to leave! The manager was extremely unapologetic and we were told that's the restaurant industry. We've never heard of this. Lived in San Diego 30+ years! We're patrons too! I made mention that it wasn't stipulated at time of reservation or when we were seated. If that's so important there should be updates to the reservation system as well as being informed when seated. Regardless, we will not be back! And spread the word of our unpleasant experience! The manager should have a class in minding her manner! She had a complete attitude!

What's the purpose of having a reservation if we had to wait 15 minutes??? Once we sat we waited long to catch the attention of server, 10 minutes, and it took another 10 minutes for our drinks. Food wasn't great just ok. So overall in my opinion they are understaffed and good done in a hurry hence just ok.

I would like to give EL Papagayo a better rating, but right from the start it was a disappointment. We've been here many times and really enjoyed it but not this time. Even though we made a reservation for 4 we were given a large table for 6 or 8 which great affected our conversation. I asked the very young hostess to reseat us, but she was not willing to go the extra mile to solve our problem as the remedy was not something she could deal with. Such as looking for a table that would break soon or offering us a seat in the bar until another table was available. I should have asked for a manager or someone who was experienced. Food was good, but I asked about a specific meal I had before (I had been craving). The server assured me it was the same preparation - but it was not. Still good but not great. Our friends were also disappointed in the attitude of some of the staff (NOT our servers who were very nice). But the entire vibe of the place was not what it used to be. Service and a friendly, helpful attitude was missing.

Waitress was very nice. The Filet cut tasted like roast beef - Med rare yielded no juice on the plate. Very odd. The seabass was better, but average at best. My potatoes were cold and sent back. The bread was good- the pesto they served it with was weird tasting. Happy Birthday to us. 😢
