Lofty Coffee’s location overlooking the PCH near Moonlight Beach is super convenient. It sits up above the PCH and this eliminates traffic noise. They have gluten free food options and great coffee. The can make the sausage egg croissant with an almond flour muffin. It was great!

⭐ 1/5 - Lofty Coffee’s Gift Card Nightmare Ruins a Great Coffee Spot Lofty Coffee has a sleek, modern vibe and serves genuinely great coffee and tasty bites—normally, I’d rave about the quality of their brews and the cool atmosphere at their Little Italy location. But my recent experience with their gift card was an absolute disaster, and it’s left me so furious that I can’t recommend this place. I received a Lofty Coffee gift card from a dear friend, a thoughtful gift I was excited to use. I kept it in my wallet for about a year, which shouldn’t be an issue for any decently made card. But when I tried to redeem it, the card was so cheaply made that it had deteriorated to the point of being unreadable. The numbers were faded, completely illegible, and the barista informed me the magnetic strip was useless too. Lofty’s response? A shrug and a refusal to honor it. This isn’t just poor customer service—it’s a slap in the face. My friend spent their hard-earned money on this gift, and Lofty’s decision to use flimsy, low-quality materials for their gift cards turned that gesture into frustration and wasted money. My money is gone, and I’m left with nothing but a bitter taste that no amount of their admittedly good coffee can wash away. Shame on Lofty Coffee for cutting corners on something as basic as a gift card. If they can’t stand behind their own products, why should customers trust them? Avoid their gift cards at all costs unless you want to throw your money—and your friends’ thoughtfulness—into the trash.

I was very pleased with this coffee shop. I didn't put this in the gps. We just happened to be driving on our way to our next beach outlook, saw it, and decided to stop. This is the big one on the hill. Across the street, there is a smaller one on the corner. All the seats were outside. I was not expecting an entire tea pot. I was only expecting a cup of hot tea. I was able to get 3 cups from the tea pot. Also, I tried a cookie as well. There is only one bathroom. All the tables are outside.

My go-to coffee shop right below my work. They make a great cortado among other things.

I've been here hundreds of times over the last 10 years and it's always great. I usually get an iced latte, but the NOLA and Turkish Latte are also amazing for a change-up.

Nice coffee shop in Leucadia on the 101. The Wi-Fi is 100/40 but no outlets. Good seating in or out. Nice selection of coffee drinks and some good egg plates. Opens at 6:30.

We thought we would try this place which appears to have a steady line of customers. They focus on local, organic, sustainable food. We tried the coffee and avocado and/or hummus toast with a poached egg. I’m glad we tried this place but we will NOT return. The coffee left much to be desired. The avocado or hummus toast was basically toast with some condiments of avocado or hummus on the side, depending on what we ordered. The “poached” egg was basically an egg that had been over - boiled, and rubbery. Waitress apologized for taking so long to bring food out as eggs “were taking too long.” Hmm, you think? Overall, not a good experience!

Lofty is a great spot for a laid-back morning. The matcha was refreshing, and my wife and I enjoyed the acai bowl and the Carlsbad poached egg plate—both simple, clean, and packed with delicious flavors. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared without being over the top. If you're looking for a relaxed vibe and healthy options that actually taste great, Lofty’s got you covered.

Lofty Coffee Company in Encinitas, California, is a gem for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike. The egg and cheese croissant was an absolute delight—each bite was an explosion of flavors, perfectly balanced and satisfying. Paired with their Ethiopian pour-over, which was light, smooth, and aromatic, it made for an exceptional breakfast experience. The ample outdoor seating is a great bonus, allowing you to soak in the lovely Encinitas vibe while enjoying your meal. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for a quality coffee experience with great food!
