This is hands-down our go-to spot for a quick bite and coffee in Downtown Encinitas! Totally a local gem — the food is always awesome, and the açaí bowls and smoothies are on point. The staff seriously treat you like family, which just makes the whole surf vibe even better.
We’ve got a bunch of favorites here, so it’s tough to pick just one — but if you’re not sure what to try, go for “The Local.” You won’t be disappointed!

Java Hut is one of my favorite go-to spots in Encinitas for breakfast, coffee, smoothies, a place to have a casual meeting and use wi-fi.
Carlos the chef is extremely kind and prepares everything with quality and a smile.
Carlos at the register is also very friendly and welcoming.
The rest of the staff do a great job. Come through and check out the massive cactus growing on the edge of the building. Swami’s smoothie, coffee, and bagel breakfast sandwich will set you up for the day

My favorite place for coffee and a bagel! I have been coming to Surf Dog’s for a couple years, and I have never had a bad experience. Usually, I get a coffee and bagel but sometimes I splurge for the fabulous egg and cheese bagel sandwich.
1) Super friendly and excellent service 2) good coffee 3) the bagels are quite good 4) especially in the morning, I appreciate how easy it is to park in Encinitas 5) awesome location for coffee after a run or walk along the path 6) the egg and cheddar sandwich's with avocado, tomato, and SurfDog sauce is so yummy 10/10 on all fronts
