The service was nice and seating was fast. Went in for breakfast and the food was good, but afterwards I got really bad food poisoning. A couple hours later, I was violently ill and this was the only food I had all day, so am pretty certain it was not from anything else.

The food and atmosphere are always good. However we didn't get to enjoy either one today as service was non-existant. We were seated and given water as usual but that wa it. After 10 minutes we started looking around and made eye contact with a couple of staff looking our way but no acknowledgement. One worker was just standing around with her arms crossed looking our way. After another 10 minutes of being ignored we left. On our way out, the table next to us were still waiting for their check which they asked for when we got seated. We've been here many times before with the place full and always great service. Today was not as full but disappointing service.

Update: Good while lasted. Quality of food and service has slid into just an average North County eatery.

Previously: Newly opened! A San Diego icon adds a location in North County. Now you can enjoy a local breakfast spot without the slog and tourists (well, at least fewer). New location is also a big step up from the eatery that occupied the space previously. One oddity though. If you went through the effort of designing a bright and airy space with new fixtures and equipment, why would you use silverware that looks like camping gear found in the bottom of an old backpack stored in the dusty rafters of a garage? Seems the project manager dropped the ball on that important detail.

The Cottage in Encinitas is a delightful spot with outdoor dining, good food & prompt efficient service. I enjoy the Killer Muffins & the friendly smiles on the staff faces.

The food was tasty (the Okinawan Hash and American Dream mocktail were both great) but what was really memorable was the service. Our server even took the time to recommend and help us locate a discount to use for our meal, via the InKind app, which was just really sweet. Thank you!

Our Server, Carlos, was great and helpful. He welcomed us before we even got in the door !

The Manager even stopped by our table. Very sweet.

Super cute, welcoming, cozy place.

All of the food was good, some a bit pricey. We spent WAY to much on Brunch, but we wanted to try a variety of their offerings.

Millionaire Bacon, good, but the 3 - half pieces are not worth $15.

I would also pass on the Cinnamon Roll. I asked if it was served warm? Yes. Sadly, not warm enough and nothing special.

I enjoyed the Lemon Ricotta pancakes with blueberries and my bf liked his Pork Belly Benedict.

Coffee is meh. Dishwater and DEF not worth $5.25. You would think that SUCH a cute little place like this would offer some delicious coffee, but no.

As my bf put it, "if we were in the area, we'd come again, but I would not make a special trip."

The Cottage Encinitas has a nice atmosphere but is way overpriced. Dishes are just okey.

The food and menu are excellent. The service, especially Heather is unsurpassed. The vibe is chill and hip, you hear Nikki Minaj and Taylor Swift in the same visit. My new favorite brunch.

Diana excellent server: asked how often she's there she said she's not full time. She needs more hours she's an excellent representative of your business. I've had many fine dining experiences and other restaurants along the way she's in the top 5% of servers I have had over the 40. She delivered our meals exactly how we ordered, it checked in on this regularly, was a beautiful presence in her demeanor; overall a rising star in your business.
My hopeis she gets more hours so we can count on our wonderful service.

Well I just wish they had had a few more traditional things for breakfast. My omelette was amazing but it was also the only thing I wanted to eat after reading the menu. The people who own and work there are fabulous and I would go there again in a second.

We were 7 and got to order different dishes. Food was great. Service was very friendly & fast. Had leftovers & still was good the next day after warming them up.

Kid-friendliness: They got few kid's meals and my 10 year old loved it. She packed her pancake leftovers and still ate it after..
