Decisions, decisions, decisions

The dilemma when traveling to Encinitas, CA and dining at the Cottage.

Their breakfast selection is complete no need to go elsewhere.

To “Machaca Birria” or to “Braised Beef Hash” both are equally delicious.

But the real reason I’m here is really for their freshly baked scones and their to die for raspberry jam.

Whatever you order at this little hidden gem inside Encinita Village shopping center, you can’t go wrong.

Make sure you ask for Abraham, he will take good care of you and all your guest.

Small potatoes portions for the omellete and had to switch the green juice for an orange juice because it wasn’t pleasing for tastebuds. I would say it wasn’t worth the price. The French toast where actually very good, the omelette was good but the sausage in it was burned. The service there wasn’t really giving good vibes . overall 4 starts

We rolled in with a gang of 10 and they absolutely killed it! Food came out fast and was actually good. Mushroom omelette was a hit and the juice was fresh. The portions were good. Service was solid, staff was friendly. Def recommend!

Cute atmosphere, good coffee and breakfast. I think it was a little overpriced for breakfast.

I came back to update my review due to the drastic changes.

They changed the menu taking off all of our classic favorites. After several months we decided to try it again after seeing some new items added. The online menu was incorrect. They have taken the downsized menu and made it even smaller. Disregard all the other reviews because they don’t have their great dishes anymore. And why can’t hot drinks come out hot with the meal or before instead of after. Service is super spotty.

I’ve been going to the La Jolla location for over 20 years and was excited another location was opened. It’s in a strip mall so not charming like the original house. However it’s not crowded (no waiting like La Jolla!) so works great in a pinch to get a taste of my favorite dishes. It’s quite pricey, but worth it. Service is a bit slow for how uncrowded it is.

Great omelettes and scones. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. They're part of the InKind network.

The breakfast chilaquiles were very flavorful. They make their own hot sauce, which was very good, with a medium heat level. The waiter was very nice and friendly.
10 of 10, I would order it again.

Great breakfast place! Not too packed on a Sunday. Waitress didn't check up on us much. Coffee did not come out with my iced tea. It was brought out after the meal arrived. Oh, great iced tea!

Ordered the enchiladas and the sauce was cold, the black beans lacked flavor. The coffee tasted old. I will not be eating here again.

The service was nice and seating was fast. Went in for breakfast and the food was good, but afterwards I got really bad food poisoning. A couple hours later, I was violently ill and this was the only food I had all day, so am pretty certain it was not from anything else.

The food and atmosphere are always good. However we didn't get to enjoy either one today as service was non-existant. We were seated and given water as usual but that wa it. After 10 minutes we started looking around and made eye contact with a couple of staff looking our way but no acknowledgement. One worker was just standing around with her arms crossed looking our way. After another 10 minutes of being ignored we left. On our way out, the table next to us were still waiting for their check which they asked for when we got seated. We've been here many times before with the place full and always great service. Today was not as full but disappointing service.
