This place has an amazing view and outdoor seating area, I'll definitely be back just for that! Service was great and everyone seems really friendly. I shared the Benedict and the steak omelette with a friend, and while the omelette was a little dry I thought the Benedict was honestly one of the best I've had. Can't wait to try this place again!

Beautiful architecture overlooking the ocean. Brunch service was good. My favorite was the vaga burger and usually I don't even like burgers. the view made it taste better.

Went for dinner with my wife and another couple and were disappointed with the service and overall dish quality given the location and prices. Would recommend the bar for the drinks and amazing view but can't say I would dine at the restaurant again.

I went for brunch during the middle of the week. Food was over priced hotel style and just ok. The view was amazing.

The three stars are for the service and view, our white wine was room temperature (my friends asked for ice, kind of embarrassing to put ice in your wine) I ordered the chicken, beautiful presentation but so dry. I discarded half of my meal. They don't take cash so paying for valet with 5 cars in our party was a bit of a lengthy process, the poor guy worked as fast as he could. I can't imagine how long it would take on a weekend night. I would go back for the view and a cocktail, but not the food.

When I approached the reception desk at Vaga Restaurant at about 11:45 am for my 12 Noon reservation on a Sunday, the tattooed hostess was furiously tapping on her I-Pad. Oddly, she continued her incessent tapping as I checked in and provided my name, scarcely looking up at me during the process. What on earth was so urgent on that I-Pad? Although the restaurant was nearly dead empty except for three occupied tables, the hostess asked me to wait a moment "to the side". She then resumed her furious I-Pad tapping. After waiting and standing there in the empty room for TEN MINUTES, I approached the tapping hostess [yes, she was STILL going at it!] and advsied her that i had just undergone a total left knee replacement surgery and could I please be taken to one of the sea of empty tables in the dining room. She seeemed surprised by my presence, and commented "she wasn't sure" if a server were available. Note---as stated above, the room was nearly empty, there seemed to be a number of staff members milling about, and at NO time later did any additional servers come on duty in the dining room, so it is not as if she was waiting for additional staff to arrive before seating me. Nonetheless,, I was seated at that time. The restaurant was "out" of the bottle of Iitalian Sparkling wine I initially requested. Accordingly, I went with a bottle of French Champagne, which I emjoyed. Once seated, the service by a young blond woman from Vermont [I forget her name] was kind an efficient. She was assited by Joey from Philadelphia, who was equally pleasant I noticed other people who arrived after me were also made to wait inexplicably long times by the hostess before being seated. Why? What is going on at the reception at Vaga? The Fish escabeche was delicious and beautifully served. The valet parking up front is easy and seamless, and the attendants greet you nicely. Someone thereafter opens the door to the lobby, which is a nice touch.

Came for the views, stayed for the food! Its a great spot for brunch, lunch and/or dinner. Cant go wrong with any if their dishes. Vaga made my stay at Alila that much more enjoyable with convenient food and rooftop options all in one. Had their grilled chicken sandwich which was great quality and hit the spot. We also enjoyed the drinks by the fireplace outside at the rooftop bar. Staff were nice a d very hospitable. When we didnt quite enjoy one of the drinks they were kind and took it off the tab. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous location! Such a hidden gem in northern San Diego! Food was wonderful, service was excellent, can't wait to come during the day.

Gorgeous restaurant and great service, but the food and wine list missed the mark. The servers also don't know how to properly describe the entrees. I ordered scallops and they were so spicy that I started coughing and sweating (and I do love spicy food!). The chocolate bomb dessert was described as rich and super sweet, but instead it was really flavorless and light with hardly any sugar. The sides of potatoes were just okay. Appetizers were the best with the duck confit tacos (and I'm not a big fan of duck in general). Overall, this restaurant was convenient with great service, but I wouldn't return for another meal.

Had a wonderful dinner with some friends! Alexis did a phenomenal job going over the menu, making recommendations and checking in with us periodically. We started with the Parker Rolls (delicious and cutely served in a square cast iron pan) and the Charred Eggplant Dip which was amazing! Three of us had the Fish of the Day (Swordfish). They all enjoyed it served in a simple broth. One of our friends had the sea scallops and said it was delicious as well. Two of us chose the Iberico Secreto which was amazing! It's the Wagyu of of pork and it was tender and flavorful. We also ordered a side of Coal Roasted Brassicas which was Broccoli Rabe, Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage, etc. in a vinagrette. Crisp and bright - yum! We finished the meal with a mango ice which was a perfect palette cleanser. They also made some great wine recommendations to go with our various meals as well as some delicious cocktails: Old Fashions & Manhattans. For the quality and service, the food is well worth it. The alcohol is where it'll get pricey if you have a limited budget. But we would definitely go back to try some of their other dishes. It was a very enjoyable evening!

We went to the bar restaurant to get the duck carnitas and a few margaritas. The food was good, albeit expensive.. $73 each.. it was yummy. The next day my bank showed they had charges my card not $73 but an additional $83 and another charge for the entire bill for $160.. total charges were around $$250 for two margaritas and duck carnitas for one! I called the restaurant and the girl who I spoke to " told me she would tell the manager and he would call me. Well I never got a call the next day so I called my bank and had them take the 2 extra charges off.. never have heard from the manager yet.. very bad policies not to call your customers back. Maybe they hoped I wouldn't notice? Check your bill before you pay for this overpriced rip off. Will not be going back.

Vaga is defintely worth the price. The food and service were superb! The flavors were immaculate and magical tasting. We've never had such an experience. My chicken was moist and cooked perfectly. All the flavors melted in our mouths. My boyfriend ordered the Iberico Secreto, Confit Crispy Roots, Escabeche, Pickled Serrano Pepper. Which was amazing and worth the try. We were told that this is the one meat you can eat raw without any worries because of the pigs diet consisting of acorns. We were newbies at a fancy restaurant but they made it so comfortable for our experience. The sun was setting, they had outside heaters and the outdoor seating was very enjoyable. The water was always filled, the music was nice to the ears. Overall a beautiful experience. I recommend 100%
