Just heard on the news that SLJ has closed all its locations. Sad that the new owners ruined what was once a great place. The new owners are fools. They sold inferior products for sky high prices. I tried to give the Encino location another chance after it "remodeled" but it was worse. It was terrible. The coconut cake was trash and who can ruin a coconut cake. Plus it was 60.00. What a joke. Tried a slice of cheesecake and it was stale. It crumbled instead of being soft and smooth. The new owners are idiots. How can you ruin a cake business with a following such as this? I feel sorry for the nice employees. They probably had zero warning of the closure. And, what about people who just received gift cards that they pumped and dumped for the holidays. That's fraud plain and simple. I think the DA or CA should look into this. Inferior products, poor management and deceptive practices will kill a business- any business. Congrats owners. You blew it! Hopefully someone with common sense and vision will buy the business at a song and bring back the good old days. Good riddance to the old owners. You deserve this.

Greeted kindly from the second I walked in! The lovely ladies working there today (Wednesday) late morning/early noon made my experience worth the drive! Drove from Santa Monica to get the celebration cake at this location for my mom's birthday. I also picked up beautiful heart sparkler candles and cute mini party hats from the beautiful table set up with a variety of candles and last minute necessities for the occasion! Will definitely make the drive for the wonderful service and cake options!

Very convenient in this shopping center. The cupcakes and the cheesecake were delicious. Parking is easy here. They have a great assortment of desserts there. Cookies, brownies, cakes, cupcakes, and they also have coffee. Will definitely be back.

I ordered a bday cake and I totally forgot to pick it up. It was my mistake but it would have been great to get a call reminder. When I voiced my suggestion the Manager said I should have called if I was going to be late. I would if I didn’t forget. Also I tried calling at 5:05 and no one picked up. They closed at 5pm so when the Manager said I could have come and someone would have been there. There’s no way of knowing because they didn’t pick up the phone. I wish the Encino store was more friendlier towards their customers.

I wanted to buy a cheesecake for a friend's birthday, and found this page on Yelp as being close by. I assumed it would be an independent bakery, and wasn't expecting anything different. Turns out it's a 35 year old 7-store mini-chain that has a rabid fan following, including several celebrities. I got sticker shock when they told me that they had one the one size for the cheesecake, which is quite large, and that it would be $76! Despite the big price tag, I was driven by my need to appease the birthday person with something they would appreciate: cheesecake. So, I relented, and paid for the obviously very expensive cheesecake that didn't even have hidden gold or anything fancy inside it. However, the cheesecake was smooth and creamy, and my friends really relished its taste, so I have concluded it's actually worth the price tag. Not only that, I went the very next day to a 2nd location of this store and bought again!

I purchased the Mother’s Day Triple Berry Cake and the flowers. The cake was so beautiful with decorations and the inside is so light, delicate and so yummy! I used it as my showstopper for Afternoon Tea. It was a hit and enjoyed by all. The flowers add that extra nice touch and smell.

This place is awesome! I was a little overwhelmed deciding on a cake for my husband's birthday party but with Shivon's expertise I took home a great cake and it was a hit! Shivon was absolutely essential and made the best suggestions and I will 100% be returning!

Seriously delicious cakes. Even my husband who doesn't care about cake loved the triple Berry. And my client loved the flourless chocolate cake I brought for her birthday. They are so professional, clean and nice. I love this place and will recommend (though I feel everyone already knows and loves this place). Perfect texture of cake, not too sweet or too heavy frosting and the perfect amount of berries. So so yummy!They have cakes ready, the best candles and write on the cake on the spot as well which is amazing when you need a cake last minute.

This is the place to go for special occasions or if you really want to treat yourself. The Berry cake is by far my favorite followed by the chocolate cake! The staff at the Encino store are wonderful, always remember me, even if three months have past. They go out of their way to make you feel special. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, it's a store in a mall with a few tables if you want to enjoy a coffee and cupcake. If you are a cake snob which I am(former catering and wedding sales for a prestigious hotel) you will love Sweet Lacy Jane's
