Found this shop while we were in town for a Baseball Tournament. Hole in the wall. Best ever. This place has a great selection. Their sandos are amazing. We had an 8" roast beef and an 8" peperoni with all the fixes. The flavor was great and the process were great for this day and age. Loved their wall of law enforcement patches.

An Escondido legend. I've been getting sandwiches there for forty years. Theya re still great. Always nice people at the counter. Always solid, amazing food.

Unsanitary and unsafe. Rotten meat! I was a long time customer of years but stopped going because of issues with consistency. Also the people working there seem absolutely miserable. The last straw for me was when they served me a sandwich with rotten meat. I mean the meat was literally grey/green. By the way, I got the argrusas original. No meat on that sandwich should be even close to grey, it should be pink. There is no way the person making the sandwich didn’t realize, they clearly just don’t care or are willing to put the customer’s health at risk in order to save money and not have to throw out old meat. Absolutely beyond unacceptable and bordering on a public safety concern. Wait let me guess, if I reach out to the manager he will make it right for me right? What a joke. Maybe I’ll call the health department, Better Business Bureau, or seek legal action against these guys because it’s clear they don’t actually care. Food poisoning can kill someone
Edit: I did in fact end up having food poisoning. I still maintain that whoever made that sandwich is a scumbag with no morals. I went there because a pastrami sandwich my daughter got there a few weeks prior was outstanding . My sandwich had much less meat amount of meat , and the roll was toasted beyond acceptable . We have had over 30 years buying sandwiches here and stopped because of inconsistencies .

When I showed the unsatisfactory sandwich to the staff, they seemed disinterested and almost dismissive. To exacerbate matters, they insisted on weighing the portions despite no visible scale during the preparation. Observing the sandwich-making process, it was evident that they blatantly lied about the weighing procedure, which was disheartening.My primary concern isn't merely the quantity of meat but the breach of trust. The staff's dishonesty, claiming to weigh the extra portions I paid for, is unacceptable. The fast-paced environment seemed to compromise their commitment to accuracy. I fear a return visit might result in contamination of my food.It's not solely about the meat; it's a matter of trust. The blatant lies undermine my confidence in the establishment. I'm willing to overlook many shortcomings, but dishonesty isn't one of them. I got an original sub. Comes with Hot Ham which they put Mortadella. Salami it’s Cotto the cheapest in salami. And pepperoni. It was terrible took one bite and tossed it. Same with the meatball and sauce. Meatball looked like wet dog food. I will never go back! Are you Italian? Genoa salami is the tastiest and hot ham is cappocolla is hot ham. My parents had an Italian restaurant and our recipes would make you crave it often. Sorry but this is disgusting to me.
