Had the fish & chips. Fish was mushy inside and batter was overcooked. Coleslaw tasted like it only had vinegar in it. Would not recommend this restaurant to other people.

The California Fish Grill is a very healthy alternative to fast food. The place was packed at lunch so I knew it would be good. I took my order to go and it did not disappoint me!

It is hard to find a restaurant that accommodates my gluten free and dairy free needs in an appetizing way.... especially while traveling. California fish and grill did a fantastic job! Both my gf sisters came with me and loved it as well. We already have plans to come again before we travel home. Staff were helpful and patient as we navigated the allergen list. Food was delightful.

The food here is decent. Has good flavors and portions although the fries were still dead. Maybe they were from the same basket I ordered the last time.
Service here again was off. Seemed like there were several customers awaiting food order corrections . . . like everything was all mixed up coming from the hole in the wall (the kitchen). I got up to check for my order after 17 minutes. One of the staff told me it wasn't ready and to "ask the other" counter person who gave me an attitude because my entire order wasn't yet finished (waiting on the fish and chips). I thought I politely asked her to give me the tacos since they were done and getting cold. She reluctantly gave it to me. I then returned back and finally got my good Fish and dead Chips with still underwhelming kale slaw at 20 minutes. I had to go back to get some tater sauce and salsa . . . she purposely avoided me to help other customers behind me.
I understand the business model, but I don't necessarily like it. You order from a kiosk or might get a counter person if you seem confused, and the counter person is not scrambling to fill orders or busy giving someone else attitude.
Yeah I know, I didn't try anything new and I will now probably never return.

Went there for dinner the other day and the food was really good, except for the coleslaw. Ordering was kind of a pain, they want you to use self-ordering machines, but the machine didn't work for me, would not accept my order for whatever reason, so the worker had to redo everything. They should change this system of self-ordering.

Place arrived in Escondido maybe 4 months ago- it's like really nice inside. Way better than the 5 guys that was here before.
We met Tyler, he's not the owner but dude that guy loves this company. He's incredible at his job and he was just a rad person - we'd come back just to say hey. Good portion sizes food was cooked perfectly. I got the salmon power bowl and we tried their fish and chips. Awesome awesome we'll be back.
