Came in to eat the guy said that the best thing on the menu was the pulled pork. Well that pulled pork was microwaved with hot and cold spots through out. The flavor was extremely bland, and the bun was old and stale. The onion rings were hot, fresh, and saturated in vegetable oil.
Well if the pulled pork was the best thing on the menu I hate to try anything else. How did this place get 5 stars I do not know!

A Hidden Gem Near Welk Resort – Don’t Let the Renovations Fool You!

While staying at the Welk Resort—which isn’t exactly known for its dining options—my husband and I ventured just a couple miles down the road to Oaks Bar and Grill, and we’re so glad we did.

The first thing you’ll notice is the fluttering BBQ signs that help you spot the place easily. The restaurant is currently undergoing renovations, and admittedly, the interior atmosphere might not immediately draw you in—but trust me, persevere. The food more than makes up for it.

For dinner on Mother's Day, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries and, on a fellow patron’s recommendation, the potato salad. I’m usually not a “double potato” person, but I’m so glad I listened. The pork was perfectly tender, lightly sauced so the flavor of the meat shone through, and incredibly satisfying.

My husband went for the Korean BBQ options on the menu and ordered the bulgogi plate with fried rice and kimchi. We were both blown away by the taste and quality—so much so that we decided to return the next day. The kimchi was so good.

On our second visit (for breakfast around 10:00am!), the chef—who seemed to be a Korean mama and clearly knows what she's doing—recommended the spicy Korean pork. We both ordered it, and it was nothing short of phenomenal.

We also ordered take-out bulgogi and kimchi to take home for dinner! It was nicely packed up and excellent reheated.

There’s also a full bar onsite, and during the day, the space seems to serve as part of the golf course pro shop. While the setting may still be in transition, the food here is next-level and truly makes Oaks Bar & Grill a hidden gem in the area. We’ll absolutely be back!

Played there on 4/16/24, and can tell you that if you are an above-average golfer save yourself the trip and do not bother to play this course. It is fine for hackers. I am from St Louis and this course is the worst shape course I have played in years, and is not worth the price I paid. I did it because we are at a resort right around the corner and now I know why it was NOT recommended by the folks at the Welk course. Greens are fine, but a lot of dirt cart paths, dirt all over, they need about two loads of sod to help. Goat track!

As you read through the other reviews, note when they are dated. This is not the same course that existed in 2016. It *was* a nice course. Today - quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had on a golf course. Every year, some buddies and I from Seattle go down to San Diego to get some vitamin D and lose some golf balls. This course was on the way to the airport, so we gave it a shot. Four hours of my life that I'll never get back--and we didn't make the 12th hole. We quit after waiting ten minutes to tee off On. Every. Hole. The pace would have us finish in 7 hours, long after we'd miss our flight home. They must space tee times every five minutes; there was a four-group backup ON THE FIRST TEE BOX. That’s not on the players, it’s on the [lack of] management. The architecture of the course looks good – it must have been great when it was built in 1965 or so? Unfortunately, whoever owns the course today is using it to milk money without making *any* investment in the course itself. The current conditions looked like the Gaza Strip after the IDF got done with it. I have never, ever seen a course in this poor shape, anywhere (and that includes the Admiral Lehigh in Florida that cost me $22, with rental clubs and cart!) I mean *really* bad—entire fairways qualify as ground under repair. The driving range in Tin Cup was in better condition. The one and only saving grace was poor Madison who was manning the bar/pro shop/restaurant/pretty much everything. At least the beer was cold. I would rather drink ground glass in my margarita before I'd play this course again. Please - save your money, go *anywhere* else.

DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE. Drove 45 minutes mutes to come play this course. They only space tee times out by 8 minutes. They do not care about the golfers time. They were backed up by 5 groups(so basically an hour and a half). The first hole is covered in weeds and dirt. No starter. Overpriced. Wouldn’t play this course if it was $6 let only $62.
