Food is good, nothing crazy. The veggies on my fish taco tasted fresh. Only thing was my fish taco was drenched in mayo, and the tortilla fell apart as I was going in for bites. Service was okay, food took about an hour to get out. Atmosphere is chill, lots of plants, very green and nice music. Only downside was there were so many flies. Pretty average spot.

Wasn’t able to order. Staff was friendly and atmosphere was nice but pets are NOT ALLOWED even though the seating is outdoors. Not throwing shade, just for the next dog owners that google eateries with outdoor seating in the area.

Hidden gem. Loved the vibe, food and live music.

Small hidden gem with great food and draft beers. Perfect place to grab lunch after a morning hike or round of golf. All outdoor seating but there's plenty of shade. I hope to return soon 👍🏼

Great food and atmosphere- but wasn't dog friendly like other reviews have left :(

I came in for a weekday lunch and was surprised by how slow everything was, especially since the restaurant was nearly empty—about 10 patrons in a space that seats around 200. It took 30 minutes for the food to come out, and when it did, it was not hot, just barely warm.

When I asked the server if that kind of delay was normal, she said yes, blaming it on a small kitchen. That might explain it, but it doesn’t excuse it—especially with so few customers.

Unfortunately, I don’t recommend this place, and I won’t be coming back.

Stumbled upon this place! What a wonderful find on our way past Escondido! We will definitely be back! Great food and great drinks!

I've already written great reviews on this place and still would highly recommend it.one minor complaint is there is no one that will come to your table to take an order or to see if you need anything. I don't mind personally, i.e. all you have to do is walk up to the bar to make your order, etc.. Just so you know!

Walked in on a Sunday around 4pm. Wasn’t particularly busy but nobody greeted us when we came in. We were able to order at the counter right away. I requested a printed receipt but never received one. They gave us a number and we picked a table.

Food took a little longer than expected but arrived well-seasoned. Portion sizes are okay, but the food definitely felt like it was a little on the pricier side.

Service is minimal. They pretty much bring your order out and you’re on your own for the rest. Utensils, condiments, even water, you have to get up to get yourself. Nobody ever came back to ask us how the food came out. I believe in generous tips, but would not have tipped as much as I did had I known what kind of service was provided. Keep that in mind if you are closing your tab right after your order.

Nobody said thanks or bye as we left. Not usually a huge deal, but after everything, it just felt like none of the employees cared.

If you want to get some food, drink, and be left alone, this is the place for you. If you are expecting sit down service, I would go elsewhere. They are pet friendly if you want to bring your dogs along. There is only outdoor seating and it can feel really hot if you’re not sitting near the misters.

Side Yard is a hidden gem! Despite the busy Saturday night crowd, the service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere was lively, with live music adding a great vibe to the evening. They also had both baseball and football games playing on the TVs, so it’s the perfect spot for sports fans.

But the real standout was the food. Every dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. You can tell the chefs put real care into the menu, and it absolutely paid off. From appetizers to dessert, everything was top-notch.

We had such a great experience that we're already planning our next visit. If you're looking for a fun place with great food, live entertainment, and excellent service, Side Yard should be at the top of your list! Highly recommended.
