As always, a great experience. Service gets better and better. The food is consistent. Noticed a price increase since our last visit a few months ago. But, it's still a good value for the food, ambiance, and location.

We all had sandwiches, which we enjoyed. We had reservations which i would always reccomend.

Great place to cool off and eat some good food. Plenty of space for our toddler to run around and play. Also had lovely view of rhinos sleeping in the shade. Spritzers were on and keeping everyone cool in the well shaded dining area. We had the shrimp nachos as an appetizer, and then for main courses got the chicken salad, salmon salad and Italian sandwich. Not cheap- but also not your typical zoo food.

The ambiance was amazing. The food was Very Good. The service was a little underwhelming, we left feeling our waiter did not like his job. Having said that, the host was very friendly.

The staff was incredible and so was the food. From the nachos to the sandwiches it was so delicious. My picky daughter said her grilled cheese was the best ever cause it was crunchy, warm and the cheese stretch was huge.

We waited about 45 minutes to get our food. The group next to us left because they waited so long for someone to come and take their order. Our waitress was very sweet but she was overwhelmed. Not enough help. The ambiance is amazing that's why we always want to eat at the Watering Hole. I hope this situation is resolved . No one wants to wait excessively long to receive their meal.

My most favorite place to eat. If i can't zip over to Africa for lunch, I'll go to The Watering Hole. And service is fantastic. Kudos to Herschel at the bar, to Vu and Stein as servers, and to Brett the manager. Plus all the others who provide excellent service every time I've been there. This place is a hidden gem for lunch and for private events.

Unique & beautiful African lodge setting overlooking the San Diego Safari Park's savanna animals. Excellent variety of menu items - appetizers, sandwiches, salads & desserts made to order. Good bar & beverage choices. A totally fun destination!

This is a great option for a sit down meal at the safari park. The food is decent. Service is a bit slow because they are so busy. But the views are really outstanding and so worth it.

I love eating here because of the ambiance location and views. Great customer service and bringing my family to enjoy the view of the Serengeti from San Diego. Sad the menu has changed again limiting the vegetarian options even more with too much onions on your food! Hope you can add more vegetarian options with no raw onions. Other than that thank you for always having Vu being such a great server she makes our visit extra special:)

The food tasted old like the chicken in the salad, like refrigerated burn chicken. The mushroom sandwich was like a grilled cheese very oily and was not worth the money. The server was amazing though, not his fault the food was awful, still tipped him but felt like complaining... smh instead, I don't want him to get in trouble

Wonderful view from an open air patio! Giraffe and rhinos close by! Great food with some good choices. Attentive and helpful staff. Best to make a reservation!

The service was terrible. A lunch that should have taken 1 hour or less took 2 hours. We did not order any appetizers. Just 2 flights and 6 meals. It took us 20 mins to get water. Four meals came out first. 2 meals did not come out until the rest of us were done eating. One of those meals was a salad and the other was a sandwich. Our waiter was nice and maybe it's on the kitchen, but there were not that many people at the restaurant as we chose a 2:30 pm seating right after the rush. If the food had not been great, I definitely would have given this place a 1 star. It was Father's Day and the dad we were celebrating is whose meal was missing. Furthermore, by the time we were done eating the safari park was closing. Therefore we lost an hour of our day sitting there and waiting for food.

Beautiful spot to relax with delicious food and drinks. The staff is attentive and inviting and we had a lovely lunch! Tip: Make sure you leave plenty of time to get there because it is hard to find and pretty far from the front gates...

Took over an hour and a half to order a charcuterie pretzel and cheese cake. The restaurant wasn't even busy! But only tables were in the shade and with the wind it was freezing, we kept having to go onto the grass area to warm up in the sun since the tables they usually have out there were not out during our recent visit.
