You can’t go wrong here. The place is lovely, casual dress but with white tablecloths. Service was spot on and a nice wine selection. I enjoyed the special of Halibut with artichoke risotto. Fish was cooked perfectly and the risotto was creamy. The mussels, shrimp and scallops in pasta with a red curry sauce was awesome. Highly recommended.

My husband & I had dinner here one evening during our recent stay in Eureka. The food was excellent, & the restaurant had a very nice wine selection. The service was very good, & the atmosphere was nice too. Would highly recommend.

Definitely one of our favorite spots. My family had Easter brunch at the Bistro and the salmon was wonderful.

Oh we wanted to find something special in Euerka and we did! The fresh cod special was excellent and our server was wonderful. We got seated at a table by te window with an incredible view. The restaurant staff were all very accommodating and our food was prepared perfectly. We can't wait to come back! The only thing......the decor in the womens restroom through me off...I'm not sure what happened there but hey, to each their own. Lol

The service was excellent.! Some of the food did not live up to expectation. They provided a shrimp cocktail for my wife on request, even though it was not on the menu, and charged the same price as for any other appetizer. It made for an interesting appetizer because our waiter had warned us that the shrimp would be grilled. The escargot were disappointing. They were very tender but more flavorless than others I have had, and the snail butter lacked sufficient seasoning. The French onion soup wonderful but the split pea soup was just split pea soup. It would be safe to order the rack of lamb rare; I ordered it medium rare to be safe (first time at this restaurant) and it was closer to medium well. The seasonal vegetables were wonderful, although I was completely unimpressed with the smashed (and charred) fingerling potatoes. The “Fresh Catch” was halibut fillet over risotto. The halibut was heavily salted on one end and none on the other (the chef missed his aim?) and the risoto had lumps and provided a soggy base for the fish. I don’t now what is it but as a rule, restaurants on the Pacific Coast with its wonderful variety of fresh seafood, rarely do a good job with fish, other than fish & chips. My New York cheesecake was just OK, being far too heavy, and the strawberries were not ripe (my pet peeve is finding white-centered strawberries in restaurants. Serve them ripe or not at all). My wife’s flourless chocolate cake was wonderful. Since we usually share our meals, I was disappointed to discover that the only rosé wine was the champagne.

I had rack of lamb and it was solid, very good...and likely not ordered that often there in early spring...wasn't busy. The house is unique and we came across it by accident because there there is literally no other decent, civilized choice in Eureka. Not being mean spirited, but we walked into a couple of places and it was WHOA, not welcome. Our server, Emily, was delightful and knew the menu throughout...which I always find impressive. I would go back for sure. There is a bar there that looks like fun and a young staff with energy which is great.

We'd need another visit with bigger appetites to provide more of a review but our light meal deserves at least a "very good." The calamari fries were delicious. They were nicely seasoned with a light, crispy coating and the toothy bounce for which the dish is known. There was plenty to share along with the excellent Caesar salad which was prepared at our table with frequent consultation about how much anchovy, parmesan, and garlic we preferred. Service was prompt and friendly despite what was probably a disappointingly small order. One dish I'd definitely return to try is the French onion soup, served in a tureen with lots of bubbly melted cheese on top, It looked divine.

This was a place to go for special occasions, first time we were disappointed. Seated in a express lane it seamed. Server was Obviously stoned, had a difficult time getting service despite all the traffic. Told the manager, got a so what response. Is good help that hard to get?

My husband made reservations for us on a Saturday night. We had dinner with friends to celebrate my birthday and the server wished me kind birthday wishes as we were seated. I have to say that, at that moment, I did expect some kind of fluorish in the style of some restaurants - perhaps a dessert to share with my table that had a candle stuck in it. In a less classy place, I suppose there might even be a group of servers singing H.B. But none of that happened and I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps if we had actually ordered a dessert, they might have stuck a candle in it or presented it at no charge. At any rate, I think they missed an opportunity because this is a wonderful place that people in our area would book for a special occasion. Overall, our meal was delicious. Our table enjoyed calamari (done to perfection, though the spice in the batter was a bit stronger than the calamari flavor), fish and chips, pasta, and salmon. They willingly accommodated my request to switch out the potatoes and seasonal vegetables for two different items and, once we had ordered, the food arrived in a timely manner. The place was hopping - yay, post-lockdown! so I can understand why it took so long to get our drink orders in but once we had ordered things moved quickly. [Note to wine drinkers: this is not a place for fine wines (at least the ones available by glass) - they're ok for dinner but not for savoring.] I wish I had the name of our sweet server but have to say they were all very nice and very busy. I would recommend it and we do plan to eat there again.

We recently made a reservation to eat here at the end of the day during which we did a looong hike, so we were looking forward to just relaxing with some fine food. The waiter came first to get our drink order but then didn't show up with the drinks for another 20 minutes. He then told us the specials and said he would come back for our orders, which took another 15 minutes (in the interim we couldn't even find him to hail him). He never brought us bread so we asked for it when we ordered. Even though we had seen large baskets of bread on other tables, when he brought the bread, we almost laughed - there were 4 small cut pieces for the 5 of us. One thing to note: this place bills itself as 'French home cooking' but the only French things I recall seeing on the menu were the French onion soup and escargot. 1 of my friends ordered the latter and said it was good, while the others ordered fish & chips (also good) and the fish tacos (very basic, sprinkled with cabbage). I had the catch of the day on risotto, which I thought was bland. it seemed more of a French bistro wanna-be that mostly serves average American-popular dishes. Friend asked for another drink, never received it. After waiting so long for everything, we just felt tired and wanted to leave... but once again, our waiter was nowhere to be seen and we had to go up to the hostess to ask for the bill. Waiter came and divided the bill as we requested, but when we went to look for the hostess again to give her our cards, the bill came back split down the middle incorrectly. Waiter then took another 15 mins to fix it. As we were finalizing , we noticed a table near us, who had come in before us, still hadn't received their dessert. We were there for 2 1/2 hours in total. All in all, I found this place to be very overrated.

I love this place! French influenced cuisine with a farm to table flair in a comfortable unpretentious setting. I bring guests here regularly when recruiting physicians and executives to the area. My favorites include specials such as seared halibut over risotto and local seafood with a coconut red pepper curry. The filet mignon I s always excellent.

We came here for dinner on our last night in town from a suggestion of our concierge Michale at the Carter House. This place is amazing! They do offer inside seating which is a big plus to us as well as drinks. Annie was our waitress, super nice and helpful and FUNNY! They had a Cajun Alfredo dish on the menu so I asked if I could have just plain Alfredo and could they add grilled chicken. They said yes no problem. My husband had the halibut and it was delicious. After a few minutes Annie came over to let us know that they had run out of chicken BUT, the owner and chief had ran to the store to get more chicken and would be right back. Because of that it may take a few minutes longer. Wow! That was so nice! I would have just ordered something else I told Annie but she said no, he wants you to have what you want to eat in his restaurant. Wow again! Later in the evening he stepped out of the kitchen to toast another table who had a birthday. This is going above and beyond to give great food at a great price and great service, Thank you all for a wonderful evening, with delicious food. I’m impressed!

I have been eating here for breakfast for a while! It's a small place tucked into the county building on north end of town. Huge menu! Fresh awesome food! The prices are great and the food is phenomenal. Counter style service, but comfortable atmosphere. My favorites are the omelettes but other food is amazing too!
