“This is our favorite (dare I say only?) hard cider taproom in Eureka. They recently upgraded their outdoor seating area and on a fair day it’s a wonderful space to enjoy. Otherwise we either belly up to the bar or grab a table and try to play cribbage. I only say try because most decks are made up of 32 cards and theirs have definitely been played with by kids. They have varying food trucks that park right up front, you can call and ask or check out the socials to see what eats are available on what days, I only have 4stars for the reason that with food trucks it’s hit n miss. They even have a private event room for your special occasions. We usually spend about one pints worth of time there, then take our growlers home to enjoy safely. Rain or shine this is a wonderful spot to hang out for a bit. The ciders are crisp, varying, full of flavor and the service is always with a smile. Furry friends are welcome, just not on the fake grass by the outdoor seating area.”

While it was beautiful to sit outside, there was a wait so we belly’d up to the bar and watched how efficient and quick everyone worked together. Ordered a cup of their seafood chowder that had clams, shrimp and mushrooms and the Sandy Beach Sandwich with bay shrimp, bacon, green onions and cheddar cheese on grilled sourdough. Sitting at the bar we were able to see all of the food that came out! They had a hot and cold crab sandwich that both looked delicious . Their Pub Cod sandwich was huge! The Shrimp Louie salad was big and had a lot of bay shrimp on it. This place was definitely worth the wait! Don’t miss out!”

“What a night! On vacation in Eureka, we asked a local at the dog park for a dining recommendation. Our server was Jake, and he performed quite well. Old Town Eureka was prepped for the Christmas walk, parking was free, and it was unseasonably warm.

“Unfortunately, there are very few cafes with a nice atmosphere, friendly service, and above all, great tasting food and coffee anymore. Familia has all of these things. My breakfast sandwich was really delicious, and my latte was just as good. I didn’t feel like I was bothering the staff with my presence, and the music was great. Plus it’s a great spot for people watching and the interior is so pretty.”

“I visited Ramone’s in Old Town Eureka today with my girlfriend. We had good service overall, but I wanted to share some feedback that might help improve consistency.

I ordered a large coffee with heavy cream and vanilla flavoring, along with a cortado. The barista preparing the drinks didn’t seem familiar with what a cortado was, and although the person at the register told her verbally, she was then left on her own to figure it out. The drinks came out lukewarm, my coffee was overpowering with vanilla, and the cortado was extremely watery with no real texture or balance.

I finished them and politely asked for another cortado—this time hoping someone more experienced could prepare it. The second cortado was excellent, and the barista mentioned it was her favorite drink, which showed immediately in the quality. The difference between the first and second drink really highlighted the inconsistency.

My girlfriend’s matcha latte was also subpar compared to other locations.

This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed inconsistency at the Old Town location. A couple of times I’ve ended up with actual coffee grounds in my drip coffee, especially toward the end of the cup. I’m not sure how that’s getting through, but it’s only happened at this location, not at the Harrison Ramone’s, which is much more consistent.

I want to emphasize that the staff was friendly and the service was good. My feedback is simply about quality control and training. If new employees are being trained, it would help if experienced staff stayed involved to ensure drinks come out consistently, especially when customers are ordering more specialty items like cortados or Gibraltars.

I really enjoy Ramone’s and hope this feedback helps bring the Old Town location up to the same standard as the others.”

The owners are always welcoming and their food is so delicious- from the spam musubi to the cheese puffs to the brocolli beef to their shaved ice- always on point. It was hard to replace Amy Delight's friendly service but Island Delight is the perfect place to continue the home like vibe restaurant at this location.”

“I come here wednesday every week. I never leave reviews, and I'm a harsh critic, but everyone needs to try this out. The fried pickles are 10/10 amazing. Every week they have a new special that is at least a 8/10, regularly a 9 or 10/10. A few months back they had a pulled pork sandwich special that was unbelievably delicious, an 11/10. They proudly display their trophy from winning burger week, and they deserve that and more. I love it here, and I have zero doubt you will too.”

It was a special anniversary date night. - and this place was amazing. Yes, crab fat wings appetizer are a must -& we shared a nightly special of lamb chops, accompanied by delightful blue cheese mashed potatoes, & tasty, asparagus, cooked to perfect perfection. Portions were quite large and flavorful for the price point, it’s very worth it actually. Might be my new favorite! Glad I stopped here on the way home. The rice was so delicious tender and perfectly cooked and didn’t clump together, it shows the traits of nice home cooked food that can be kept and reheated and still taste good. By my preferences I would save they have the best lengua in all of Humboldt, it’s perfectly tender but also got a sear on it which brings out more deeper flavors. Most other places use lengua that is very soupy and wet here you can get a lengua burrito without it dripping everywhere, I prefer it here it’s what I grew up eating.”

“This is a quaint little local ramen restaurant. They repainted a big mural on the outside of the building which looks very nice. Food was pretty good, the server was really nice, but he didn't come back and top off our waters at all. I will probably go back, ramen is not my personal fav, but if you love ramen/ pho you should try this place out.”

“I like this Starbucks because I manifested it into existence. I live on the south side of town. Worked in Fortuna and like Starbucks. I can't help but like Starbucks. Consistent, clean, and courteous. The blond expresso never bitter. I've tried a load of others😖 They are all claiming they're great. And I'm sure, most would tell me, I have no taste, not even in my mouth.🤷‍♀️ You can order ahead, it's rarely so busy you leave. Love them 💕”

“I really like the food here. The inside is very small, not a whole lot of seating. The parking lot can be very annoying so I almost always use the app to order ahead of time to just get in and out of there. The employees seem nice enough and are willing to answer any questions you might have about the menu ect. Overall a pleasant experience and delicious food with excellent prices.”
