“Try their cinnamon roll. One of the best I’ve ever had. They have other stuff, but I would say if you are gonna try one thing, go with the cinnamon roll. It’s big enough for 2 people to share. Super cute place, and super nice ladies that run it, you feel like you are at grandmas house. ONLY OPEN FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY !”
“Patches' now has a most adorable little shop/stand on Ferndale's Main Street! Everything I have tried from them has become my favorite -- so I can't choose just one thing to recommend. The love put into these delectables is obvious and my only complaint is that I am going to get even chonkier, ha! LOVE this place and you will too.Kid-friendliness: There are so many delicious options with ice cream, milkshakes, baked goods.... I frequently see kids there who have ridden their bikes to get a treat and lots of families too!”
“We stopped by for lunch on a recommendation from a business owner on the square. Did not disappoint. Our waiter was great and the food was delicious. I loved that our waiter wrapped up our sandwiches to take to-go for us. We all had the other half for dinner. Great place for kids as well. Salad bar is small (in a good way-everything super fresh) and it was nostalgic in the best way. Will definitely return the next time we travel through that area.”
“I had the most AMAZING freshly cooked burger?...I am a picky eater...so when I tell you I ENJOYED my deluxe blue cheese burger....it's a MUST I had the pleasure of meeting the owner as well...She was very welcoming and kind! This little town is simply adorbs??”
“Food was unique and flavorful. Atmosphere (with a band and locals chattering) was hypnotic, taking you to a place in time where good vibes reverberated through your soul. Ambiance was equally warm.”
“Old pool hall...three guys reunion and enjoyed the place all to ourselves befor lunch. The bar gal was genuinely friendly and she recommended the pizza company down the block for lunch. She knows her town. Thanks!”
“We ate lunch at this cute little spot in Ferndale today. We'd heard good things about it and we wanted to give it a try. We were party of 4 with. Baby. We got seated right away and drink orders placed. The menu isn't just our typical Mexican menu. It has some interesting twists like carnitas sliders and lettuce wraps with chicken mole. At our table we had a burrito, steak fajitas, a tostada and I had the sliders. It came pretty quickly which was good with a tired baby. I was impressed that they make fresh tortillas and everything was really quality. I didn't expect to find such good Mexican food in this little pastoral town but I'm glad we did!!”
“Well decorated, esthetically pleasing, with healthy and beautiful plants. Style is dark wood, black metal, marble counter tops, and very clean. Love the environment! Good food, good drinks, and good service!Dietary restrictions: • Dairy Free Alternatives• Sugar Free Options• Flexibility when ordering with dietary restrictions and preferences.Parking: This coffee shop is a corner location, which provides it with more street parking.Kid-friendliness: Games and puzzles provided for entertainment.Wheelchair accessibility: Open spaces, large doorway, and tables which easily accommodate a wheelchair.”
“I've lived in Ferndale for a couple of months now but what got me to try Poppa Joe's is a visit from friends. I had pancakes, eggs, and bacon. They had french toast, hamburger steak, county potatoes, hashbrowns and eggs. We all LOVED our food. I totally forgot write a review yesterday (when we ate at Poppa Joe's) but considering I am literally craving the pancakes today says something. Might be the best pancakes I have ever tasted. And they were H U G E. Don't miss this place. It is truly special. As others have noted, cash only.”
“My friend took me here for my belated birthday dinner. I Loved the atmosphere and architecture of the restaurant and building it looked very nice and clean in the inside and had a cute little bar and fireplace in the dinning area. Waiter was very polite and nice. Food was good and the wine. I will definitely be coming back here again in the near future.”
“A great place to get high quality meals "like mama makes em". The servers are always so friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. There are several food restrictions in my family and they are always mindful. The lighting and comfort level are perfect during a rainy day; did I mention their coffee? Never had a bad coffee from them, and I'm picky. Perfectly priced, I usually share a meal with my partner since their portions are so big. One of our favorite spots in Fortuna!”
“Go here. Visited may 2023. Really good consistently, just what you want when craving a hot dog! Good fries and a shake too! Hasn’t changed the decor in forever (good thing)!Kid-friendliness: A+”
“Love this food truck! It has become a weekly taco Tuesday spot after our discovery of their street tacos...mmmm...carne asada...mmm! They also make a spectacular chili relleno which you don't often see at a food truck. It is puffy and cheesy but not greasy. Better than most brick-n-mortar establishments!”
“First of all we got there 5 minutes before they closed and they still let me and my husband and 2 of our kids stay. I had the burger and homemade onion rings they were so good. One of the best burgers I've had in a while and, my husband had linguica with eggs, potatoes and gluten free toast, he really enjoyed his too. My boys had French toast breakfast and my 8 year old son had chicken sandwich with veggie soup, he loved his sandwich, he said I give them 5 stars! Friendly staff, clean restaurant, cloth napkins, breakfast served all day! Would definitely come back when in the area!”
“Surprisingly good place in a nondescript strip mall. Everyone in our party of 7 was satisfied. My kids loved the chicken tamale plate. I had tacos of lengua and asada that were both really good. The salsas and chips were yum, especially the smokey red salsa. Rice and beans were on point. The fish taco was slightly bland, but the freshness and homemade everything, including tortillas, more than made up for that. I would definitely come back to try more.”
“Fiesta veg burrito was amazingly delicious! The crazy fries were decent but not as “crazy”.The Jamaican hibiscus tea was very refreshing!Service was good and quick. The menu is creative and offers many options. The restaurant is spacious.Would recommend their fiesta burrito.”
“We love this place. Very friendly. Good drinks and good food. The reason it didn't get a five is because there have been times on Friday nights where it took a long time to get our food. They have started opening for lunch with special things on the menu. Happy hour starts at 4:00 I believe. You can get a full dinner with all the trimmings and appetizers. Easily splitable. Just order the extra plate and a side salad. Conveniently once again we are going there tonight. See you there!”
“As someone who is a scratch cook I can honestly say this % the best breakfast place I have ever been to . Not only does the owner(Cherie) walk around and check in with you , but if you are a fun kind of person she will replicate your attitude back The food is always fresh hot and amazingly delicious . All staff are extremely kind , swift and a wealth of information on the food choices My wife totally loves the Mexican Potatoes and Stuff . I have a special spot for the stuffed French toast - unlike most every other place I have been to across the country the stuffed French toast have the perfect balance of sweetness not to much and not to little . Today I had the Pancake tacos , they are a fun little breakfast food for child and adults alike . Never once have we had a bad experience or meal at Hot Brew Bistro . If you are ever passing thru or live in the area and have not been to Hot Brew Bistro you should stop in for a down home good cooked meal and a great family experience The one and only bad thing is today is our last time coming to Hot Brew Bistro as we moved to South Carolina last year and we were only back visiting for a week . This is our last trip to CA and the lost coast area Thank you for all the great food and wonderful times”
“Live from New York pizza used to be the best pizza back in the 90s and early 2000s. It's really hit or miss nowadays. Every once in a while you get a good slice of cheese pizza that tastes just the way it did in the 90s. I really think the inconsistency needs to be addressed. I did use to smoke a lot of pot when I'd go there and now I don't. Maybe they should do CBD Pizza cause it did used to taste better when I was baked.”
“Good food and great friendly efficient service. I really like the Bistec a la Mexicana. The chips and salsa are good. I haven't tried much else on the menu yet.”
“Update: We returned to Pepper's again tonight. Joe and his Fortuna Pepper's Team were exceptional. True world class. As always, the food was perfect (Southern Dinner and Baked Lasagna) with chocolate cake for desert! I am here in Fortuna for a few weeks taking care of my father in-law who lost his wife to cancer last week. What really stands out at Pepper's for me is there attention to customer service. The team is uplifting and very customer focused. I will be a Pepper's customer for life. Sincerely - MarkUpdate: Joe, the owner of Pepper's called me immediately after my post. I greatly appreciated his effort to reach out to me directly from a customer service perspective. His focus was understanding the customer experience I had and what he could do to course correct the issue. Joe was receptive and a very good listener to my experience. He certainly made every effort to make it right. Based on his call I will return to Pepper's during my stay in Fortuna.Original Post: I am visiting Fortuna for a couple weeks. Tonight I placed by 5th order with Peppers for a "to go dinner". Of those, 3 of the orders were not what I ordered. When I finally called to complain, the receptionist said they would try to do better and hung up. Really! I expected a little better customer service, but they were not very concerned. Very disappointing. Recommend you make sure you check your to go order for accuracy. Mark”
“The guy who runs the store is really nice. The Cider is absolutely amazing. He brought us some while we were working out front doing traffic control. The shop seems really cozy and a great opportunity to support local business.”
“If you are from Humboldt and have never ventured out of the county you may give this place a 5! I put into consideration that it is a brewery in Humboldt or may have given it a 2 or 3. Beer is decent but nothing to really rave about.”
“LOVE. Hoppy's will always be a go-to for a fun day with my grandkids. The people are always so sweet and so is the froyo haha. Have been many times and will be back.”
“Shots has created a set of customers for life! The pink Barbie will be my go to drink forever. The staff is always friendly and willing to answer questions and they get through the line quick!”
“I've only ordered their breakfast burrito because it's delicious ?. Thus, this review could be all wrong, but I'd definitely recommend the breakfast ?!”
“I came to live in Humboldt County, and I am a dairy girl. Happy cows live here. This Creamery is the real deal, the original farm country, acres of cows, bounding deer and bunnies, the the utopia and oasis that people in the city do not understand. Don't spoil it, enjoy the milk and food. Please leave mean and nasty comments off of here. Oh, that half and half probably had a transport driver that did not get it into the dairy box soon enough. Sorry, life does come with imperfections. Be nice....”
“My only complaint is, they didn’t ask if I wanted to leave a tip lol! I totally spaced that we paid card and didn’t leave a tip, so figured I could at least leave a nice review? Staff is always so sweet, and the coffee is literally the BEST in Humboldt county, hands down! I’ll be sure to tip double next time! ?”
“Service has not been as quick as it was when a particular guy worked there in the mornings, but my food and Coffee always comes out spot on.There is no option to select for drive thru. My encounters are always through the drive thru.”
“This is such a lovely place for a beautiful cast iron pot of loose leaf tea and a snack! And you will be shocked by how reasonably priced everything is, too. Mind's Eye is beautifully decorated to make you feel cozy and relaxed, and the service is as kind and friendly as could be. They have an extensive tea and coffee menu, fresh baked goods, $1 cinnamon toast "the way Mom used to make", a soup option with yummy buttered toast, and a panini option, but only on select days (Fri, Sat, & Sun I believe).”
