“Porter Street BBQ is a classic locally. Whenever you are within a few blocks, and especially passing by the restaurant, you get hit with the incredible aroma of the BBQ. Something about that smell always makes my mouth water. PorterStreet also gives back to the community through sponsorship of several athletics programs and other programs and groups. They've been operating locally for several decades, and they also have a restaurant down in Cotati (Santa Rosa). Whichever meat you choose, you're going to be happy. Tri-Tip, Pork, Chicken, Ribs, it's all fantastic! You must try their BBQ Sauce. It comes chilled or warm they also have a toppings bar with lots of the most popular items people like to put in their sandwiches. I highly recommend stopping when passing through Eureka. If you're traveling and not hungry at the time, you pass through. They can package it up for you and you can take it with you and enjoy it later.“
“The Tri Tip sandwich and fries were quite filling. The TriTip was extremely tasty it's melts in your mouth literally! I'm a weirdo though I don't like meat with fat so I had to cut the fat off the edges of the meat. I was really craving a fountain drink (Dr. PEPPER) I don't drink soda often but when I go to a restaurant for lunch I typically do especially when taking a break from yard work, so that was a little disappointing they had a odd drink selection. The dining area is very basic with a few pictures of Eureka High Football teams that were successful. Along with a few pictures of relatives who played college football and even NFL football! I'm curious where they BBQ at? Another BBQ restaurant in town Grills the meat right outside and the smell is INCREDIBLE! I don't recall ever smelling BBQ or seeing the smoke coming from Sammy's. They also provide catering services too! They have a restaurant in Arcata as well.“
“Friendly & helpful employees. Delicious chopped brisket sandwich (we added crispy onions) & baked beans. Several flavorful BBQ sauces to choose from with great descriptions to help you decide - ultimately ended up purchasing a bottle of their "Georgia" sauce to bring back home with us.“
“What a gem! Authentic Jamaican food and atmosphere in an unexpected place! We stopped on our way up the coastal highway for lunch and it was such a treat! We got jerk chicken tacos, acee and saltfish, mac and cheese, coconut rice, plantains. The spice level was just right for our family of four—even the teenagers liked it. I’m not from Jamaica but lived in south Florida for four years and this was every bit as tasty as the jerk chicken and other Jamaican food we ate in FL.“
